Apple launched the iPhone 17 series last month and it is in huge demand. To meet the increased demand on the occasion of Diwali, Made in India iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max have now started arriving at Apple’s offline stores in India. Let us tell you that despite the high demand this time, less units are reaching the retailers. Retailers say that compared to the iPhone 16 series, this time they are getting only 60 percent of the units.

Made in India models available earlier than last year

According to the report of Moneycontrol, iPhone 17 Pro models are reaching stores earlier than last year. According to the report, the Pro models became available in stores about 8 weeks after the launch of the iPhone 16 series. This year, after about 4 weeks of the start of sales, the Pro models made in India have reached the company’s offline stores. Let us tell you that iPhone 17 Pro models are assembled in Foxconn and Tata’s Pegatron plants in India, while iPhone 17 models are produced in Wistron’s plans.

Initially iPhones were imported from outside.

Usually, at the time of start of sales, Apple imports iPhones from other countries and sells them in India. Due to this, proper balance of demand and supply is not created. However, this time, considering the increase in demand, Apple had imported more units. Let us tell you that there is a huge demand for Pro models since the sale started on September 19, but they are not being supplied accordingly. Offline retailers say that the supply is less this year compared to previous years. He has repeatedly demanded Apple to increase the supply of 512GB, 1TB and 2TB variants of Pro models.

Apple has increased its production in India for some time now and now the figures are also testifying to this. According to a recent report, Apple has sent iPhones worth $ 10 billion (88,600 crore Indian rupees) made in India abroad in the first six months of this year. This is an increase of 75 percent compared to last year. Let us tell you that the company is producing all the models of iPhone 17 in India and the first foldable iPhone to be launched next year can also be made in India.

Exports broke record in September also

Usually, exports remain low in September in anticipation of new iPhones, but this time Apple broke this record too. In September last year, the company had exported iPhones worth $490 million, but this time this figure has increased to $1.2 billion. The reason behind this was the company’s opening of two new plants in India. In April this year, Apple’s supplier Tata Electronics’ Hosur plant and Foxconn’s Bengaluru plant were started. By combining these two, there are now a total of 5 iPhone manufacturing factories in India.

Last year’s record may be broken

According to the report of Economic Times, experts say that this year Apple’s production and export may exceed last year’s figures. However, it may face some challenges due to American tariffs. Let us tell you that most of the smartphones from India go to America. Between April and August this year, smartphones worth $8.43 billion made in India have been exported to America, whereas during the same period last year, smartphones worth $2.88 billion were exported. Apple is at first place and Samsung is at second place in exporting Made in India phones to America.

Apple vendor foxconn investment: Despite the advice of US President Donald Trump that he does not want Apple to invest in India, the company is taking steps forward under its big plan. Apple’s important supplier FoxConn has invested a huge invested of $ 1.24 billion, or about Rs 12,800 crore for the operation of its plant in India within the last five days. This information was given in regulatory filing by the company.

This investment has been made in Tamil Nadu Unit of FoxConn K, FoxConn, Ujhan Technology (India) Private Limited. The investment by the company was made at a time when Apple is moving forward to shift China’s own business to India under a big plan. Also, she is trying to increase its production with fast.

Big investment in apple

Apple CEO Tim Cook recently announced that most of the iPhones sold in the June quarters in the US would be made from India, while the phone made in China will be sent to other markets of the world due to uncertainties on tariffs. During the financial year 2025, FoxConn’s income from India was almost doubled $ 20 billion (1.7 lakh crore), which is especially due to increased production of iPhone. According to an estimate by S&P Global, Apple has sold around 759 lakh phones in the US market in the year 2024.

Rapid production capacity being increased rapidly

Only about 31 lakh phones have been exported from India in the month of March. In such a situation, to further increase exports, the company will either have to increase its production capacity or produce from another unit.

The government estimates that about 15 percent iPhone of Apple is made in India. Apple is trying to increase it to 6 crores during this financial year. Earlier, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had said that during FY 2025, a record number of mobiles were exported from India, in which 1.15 lakh iPhones were exported.

Apple production in india: Apple -maker Apple, the investment schemes of investment in India, remains and the company has proposed to create a major manufacturing center for its products in the country. Government sources gave this information on Thursday (15 May 2025). Soon after US President Donald Trump’s statement, Indian officials spoke to officials of the company in Cupertino, USA.

India will be the manufacturing hub

Trump said that he has asked Apple Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook to reduce manufacturing in India. The source said, “Apple has assured that its investment plans in India remain intact and India will be a major manufacturing center for its products.”

In this regard, Apple has not received any answer to the questions sent through e-mail. Earlier, Trump said in a program during Qatar’s visit that he told Cook and told him that he was not in favor of Apple’s product in India.

Trump advised not to manufacture in India

The US President said, “You know, we have Apple and yesterday I had some trouble with Tim Cook. I told him that Tim you are my friend. I treated you very well. You are bringing $ 500 billion, but now I am hearing that you are going to manufacture all over India. I do not want you to manufacture in India. If you want to take care of India, then you can manufacture in India.

It is very difficult to sell goods in India- Trump

He said that India is one of the highest charge countries in the world and it is very difficult to sell goods in India. Trump said, “I told Tim that we treated you very well. We tolerated all your plants in China for years. Now you have to manufacture us. We are not interested in the fact that you manufacture in India. India can take care of itself. They are very good. We want you to manufacture here and Apple is going to increase production in America. ”

India comes to 15 percent iPhone

Cook has announced that the Apple will take most of the iPhones from India in the US in the June quarter amid tax uncertainty, while mobile phones will be manufactured for other markets in China. According to government sources, 15 percent of the global production of iPhone comes from India. Foxconn, Tata Electronics and Pagtron India (with a majority stake of Tata Electronics) are engaged in manufacturing iPhone. Foxconn has also started manufacturing Apple Airports in Telangana for export.
