Sales were not as per Apple’s expectations

Apple has not officially disclosed how many units of this device it has sold, but its sales have been weak. According to reports, only 45,000 units of this device were sold in the last quarter of last year. In view of this, the Chinese company producing it and Apple’s supplier Luxshare had stopped its production in 2025 itself. It is worth noting that Apple is selling this device only in 13 countries.

For what reasons are sales not happening?

Launching it in 2023, Apple CEO Tim Cook had said that this product will revolutionize spatial computing. However, due to its expensive price, customers were seen avoiding buying it. Those who bought it complained about it being uncomfortable and heavy, due to which it found it difficult to get new customers. Apart from this, another reason for Vision Pro not being popular is the low availability of apps for it.

What is Apple’s plan now?

After the Vision Pro headset was not a hit, Apple has now decided to make smart glasses. These glasses will run on Vision Pro software visionOS only. Apple Glasses will work in two different modes according to different devices. When connected to MacBook, they will be able to use the full version of visionOS, while while pairing with iPhone, they will work on a lighter and mobile-friendly version. In this way they will be able to integrate easily with the Apple ecosystem. There will be no display in the lens in the first generation of Apple Glass. This device will be equipped with built-in speakers, camera, AI based voice control and sensors for basic health monitoring. A display can be added to it later.

However, it will not give AR experience completely.

However, this project is far away from getting ready and is not expected to come in the market soon. According to reports, Apple is facing a lot of technical challenges in creating the right balance between light weight, powerful features, better battery life and stylish design. Earlier, there was a report that it may take at least 3 to 5 years for Apple to launch functional ar glasses.

Camera will also be available in airpods

Apart from smart glasses, Apple is also working towards making its airpods more smart. It is being told that infrared cameras looking towards the outer direction will be installed in the new airpods. These cameras will not be traditional cameras but will be based on infrared technology like face ID sensor of iPhone.

The main work of these new airpods will be to collect data of the surrounding environment and send it to the AI ​​system so that the user can get more personal and interactive experiences such as better special audio. When will these devices be launched?
