Bitra is the smallest populated island located in the northern region of Lakshadweep. Its length is 0.57 km and width is 0.28 km. According to the 2011 census, the total population of Bitra Island is just 271. A government notification Revenue Department, released on July 11, has outlined the proposal to submit the Bitra Island and hand over to the Defense Department. This island will be used by India’s defense agencies.
