Sunny Deol has expressed grief over Asrani’s demise by posting on Instagram story. He wrote- ‘ASarani ji was one of those rare artists who had the skill to make you smile even on the most difficult days. His warmth and humor will always be with us.

Aamir Khan wrote- ‘We are extremely saddened by the demise of veteran Asrani. A true icon, whose wit, warmth and unforgettable acting enlightened generations of cinema lovers. Actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has also shared a photo of Asrani on Instagram story. Kajol shocked by Asrani’s demise

Asrani was born on 1 January 1941 in a middle-class Sindhi-Hindu family in Jaipur, Rajasthan. His father was a carpet merchant, and there were seven brothers and sisters in the house. Asrani was an average student since childhood. He completed his 10th class from St. Xavier’s School, Jaipur, but mathematics was always a headache for him. Asrani himself had said in an interview that I used to fail in mathematics, but I always enjoyed dramas.

This interest took him to All India Radio, Jaipur during his studies, where he worked as a voice artist. This small work proved to be the first step in his career. Along with this, he also completed BA from Rajasthan College, Jaipur. It was from here that the seeds of acting sprouted, which later turned into the laughing tree of Bollywood.

Learned nuances from them

In 1960, Asrani learned the nuances of acting from Jaipur writer Kalabhai Thakkar. In 1962, he decided that he should now take acting lessons professionally. He reached Mumbai, where directors Kishore Sahu and Hrishikesh Mukherjee advised him to take formal training in acting. Following this advice, Asrani took admission in the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune in 1964.

Asrani’s hard work and dedication towards acting impressed everyone at FTII. After completing the course in 1966, he was ready as a trained artist. But his path was not easy. In his early days, he did small roles like in Hare Kaanch Ki Chudiyan (1967). Gradually he also entered Gujarati films and acted in four films between 1967 and 1969.

Received many awards

The 1970s proved to be the turning point of Asrani’s career. His comedy characters in Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar (1973) and Balika Vadhu (1977) won the hearts of the audience. He was honored with the Filmfare Award and his role of the jailer in the 1975 superhit film Sholay immortalized him. His dialogue ‘We are the jailers of the British era’ still resonates in people’s minds.

Although Asrani was not just a comedian, he was also a brilliant actor, writer and director. He directed more than 25 films, which include films like Hum Nahi Sudhrenge (1980) and Maa Ki Mamta (1989). His friend Rajesh Khanna also had a big role in Asrani’s success. The two became friends during the shooting of Namak Haram (1973) and Khanna gave them opportunities in many of his films.

According to the website of the Central Pollution Control Board, the average PM 2.5 concentration throughout the day on October 20 in Mumbai was 339 micrograms per cubic meter, which is about 6 times more than the WHO limit of 50. PM 2.5 particles present in the air enter the lungs and cause inflammation. The report of Indian Chest Society says that after Diwali, respiratory infections increase by 40 percent.

According to Dr. Radhika Sharma, Senior Consultant Pulmonologist, Vinayak Health Hospital, Delhi, the effect of smog lasts for a week after Diwali. Due to this, the functioning of the lungs reduces by 25 percent. At the same time, breathing also becomes difficult for patients with chronic diseases like COPD or asthma. In fact, PM2.5 particles enter the blood and increase the risk of heart attack.

How to avoid pollution during Diwali?

According to Dr. Harshal R Salve, Additional Professor, Center for Community Medicine, Delhi AIIMS, Diwali pollution increases asthma and COPD in the short-term. At the same time, in the long term the risk of cardio-respiratory disease, stroke and heart attack increases. Apart from this, at AQI 335, respiratory diseases worsen by 40 percent. In such a situation, a mask should be worn to avoid any kind of problem.

According to the DB report, Asrani’s manager Babu Bhai told that the actor was admitted to the hospital 4 days ago. Where it was revealed that Asrani’s chest was filled with water. In such a situation, he was undergoing treatment continuously and in the meantime the actor lost the battle of life and death. A few hours after his death, the family also performed his last rites. Asrani got absorbed in the five elements today at the cremation ground in Shantinagar, Santa Cruz.

Asrani’s full name was Govardhan Asrani. He was a resident of Jaipur, Rajasthan. He entered Bollywood with the film Hare Kanch Ki Chudiyan, released in 1967. Asrani had created a strong fan following with his acting and comic style in his 58-year-old film career.
