Acting Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken oath as Assam CM. Many big leaders including PM Modi, Amit Shah were present at his swearing-in.

The new government of Assam will be sworn in at 11 am on Tuesday. On Sunday, the Assam Chief Minister’s Office had written in X Post that under Article 164 (1) of the Constitution of India, the Governor has appointed Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Chief Minister of Assam. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to be held on May 12 at 11:40 am in Khanapara, Guwahati.

Earlier, Himanta Biswa Sarma was unanimously elected leader in the meeting of BJP Legislature Party and NDA Legislature Party. The party had made Union Minister JP Nadda an observer, while Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was appointed co-observer. On the other hand, the Congress alliance was reduced to just 19 seats. Raijor Dal and AIUDF got 2 seats each, while TMC got 1 seat. The account of Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) was also not opened.
