Two major conflicts of the world now appear to be connecting with each other. On one hand, there has been tension and military action between America and Iran for the last several months, while on the other hand, the war between Russia and Ukraine has entered its fifth year. Now an incident has come to light which has linked these two conflicts together and has created new concerns at the international level.

The latest controversy started with the attack on an Iranian ship in the Caspian Sea. Ukraine is accused of targeting an Iranian commercial ship in the Caspian Sea. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claims that this ship was being used to supply weapons and military equipment between Russia and Iran. For this reason it was attacked.

Iran has expressed strong displeasure

Iran has expressed strong displeasure after this incident. Tehran summoned Ukraine’s ambassador and warned of serious consequences. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also spoke to EU foreign policy chief Kaza Kallis and registered his protest against the attack. He also demanded strict action against Ukraine. This is the first time such an attack has taken place on a ship in the Caspian Sea. The Caspian Sea is a sea area that is surrounded by land on all sides. It is bordered by Russia to the north-west, Iran to the south, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to the east and Azerbaijan to the west.

Relations between Russia and Iran become stronger

Relations between Russia and Iran have become stronger after the start of the Ukraine war. Contact between the two countries has increased in trade, technical cooperation and defense sector. For this reason, it has been discussed for a long time that there is exchange of military material between Russia and Iran through the Caspian Sea. However, there was never any clear acknowledgment in this regard publicly. Iran says that the ship that was attacked was a normal commercial ship. According to Iranian officials, one sailor died in the attack while another sailor was injured.

President Zelensky’s statement released on social media

After the attack, President Zelensky issued a statement on social media saying that the ship was carrying military material between Russia and Iran. He claimed that Russia has been using Shaheed drones provided by Iran against Ukraine for a long time. In the initial phase of the war, Russia had used a large number of Iranian drones, which helped it gain an edge in the war. Zelensky not only defended the attack on the ship, but also made another serious accusation against Russia. He claimed that Russia has provided Iran with satellite images and intelligence information about American military bases in the Gulf region. According to him, in the month of July, Russian satellites were monitoring American military bases located in Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait.

Zelensky alleges that intelligence provided by Russia may have played a role in some of the precise attacks carried out by Iran on American targets. He said that Ukrainian intelligence agencies will share the evidence collected in this regard with America and other allied countries. For this reason Zelensky has appealed to the international community to take strict action against Russia.
