Australia is the first country in the world which has completely banned the use of social media for children under 16 years of age. This law came into full force in December 2025 and under this the platform strictly implemented age verification. Companies which do not follow this may face heavy penalties.

France has also taken a tough stance by banning social media access for children under 15 without parental consent. French President Emmanuel Macron has openly advocated for strong worldwide cooperation on the digital safety of children and has asked some other countries including India to adopt similar security measures.
