Retail Investors, pay attention! There is going to be a big change in Tata Motors. Record date is 14 October 2025 — If you have a share of Tata Motors on this day, you will get shares of new Commercial Vehicles (CV) in 1:1 ratio. From October 15, Tata Motors will now ex-trade the CV business. After the demerger, the existing listed company will become Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., which will have JLR and EV segments. The new demerged company will be Tata Motors Ltd., which will focus only on commercial vehicles. Now the real question is CV Business provides 25% of Tata Motors’ profits, but only 17% of Revenue! That means High Margin and Stable Growth. On the other hand, PV and EV segments have tremendous growth potential but also require huge investment. Demerger will provide strategic clarity, different capital access and clean valuation to investors.

There has been a continuous decline in the shares of Tata Motors since last week. This downward trend started just before the record date of the company’s big demerger—October 14. Tata Motors is trading at around ₹675 with a fall of ₹40. After demerger, the company will be divided into two separate entities – Passenger Vehicle and Commercial Vehicle Units. However, earlier on the news of demerger, the share had also increased by 7-8%. But now investors are confused about restructuring, which is leading to profit booking. Also, the weak results of the company’s UK-based unit Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) have also put pressure on the share. JLR’s quarterly volume was affected due to a cyber attack. Exports have been affected due to the closure of old models and increase in American tariffs. However, movement in the market is expected once again around the record date of October 14.

During Navratri, Mercedes-Benz set a new record by selling more than 2,500 cars in just 9 days, taking its total sales to almost Rs 1,600 crore. This has been one of the biggest sales ever under the company’s ‘Dream Days’ campaign. The recent reduction in GST, especially the removal of Compensation Cess, has reduced the tax burden on luxury cars – earlier, 22% Compensation Cess had to be paid along with 28% GST, now only 40% GST is applicable. The impact of this direct 10% tax cut was clearly visible on the sales of Mercedes-Benz. A tremendous increase was seen in the sales of popular models like GLS, AMG G63, GLE, GLC and EQS SUV. Along with this, models like E-Class LWB and GLE also recorded the best sales till date. In the second quarter (July-September) of FY26, Mercedes-Benz recorded total sales of 5,119 units. Companies like BMW, Audi and JLR also reduced prices by Rs 3 to 5 lakh, which led to a wave of new purchases in the luxury segment.
