US Canada Aviation Dispute: US President Donald Trump has once again taken a tough stance against Canada and announced to take big and aggressive steps in the aviation sector. Through a post on social media, Trump accused Canada of discriminating against American aircraft manufacturer Gulfstream, which is expected to further increase trade tensions between the two countries.

Trump’s retaliation

President Trump alleged that Canada has knowingly and illegally denied certification to America’s prestigious aircraft manufacturer Gulfstream’s 500, 600, 700 and 800 series jet aircraft.

He said that Gulfstream jets are among the most modern and technologically advanced aircraft in the world, yet Canada has not been approving them for years. Trump termed this attitude as discriminatory against American companies.

In response to this, President Trump made a big announcement saying that America is now de-certifying all Canadian aircraft including Bombardier Global Express aircraft made in Canada. He clarified that this decision will remain in effect until the Gulfstream jets receive full certification from Canada.

Trump warned

Trump further warned that if Canada did not immediately improve the situation, the US would impose a 50 percent tariff on all aircraft imported from Canada. After this statement, there is a possibility of increasing tension in trade relations between America and Canada. Experts believe that this dispute will not be limited only to the aviation industry, but it can also affect the trade and diplomatic relations of the two countries.
