Washing the eye with clean and lukewarm water: lukewarm water helps in cleaning the eye and removes the dirt or infections that produce infection. Clean the baby’s eye twice a day with lukewarm water with light hand. Water should always be cooled and clean by boiling.

Light cleaning with cotton pads: Soak the sterile cotton pad in lukewarm water and slowly clean the discharge stored in the corners of the eye. This reduces the risk of spreading bacteria. Use a new cotton pad for every cleanliness.

A few drops of mother’s milk: The mother’s milk not only nourishes but also contains natural antibodies which can help fight infection. After the doctor’s advice, you can put 2 drops of breast milk in the affected eye. Adopt this remedy only when the doctor allows.

Cold cool of rose water: Rose water has cool and comfortable properties. Soak a clean cotton pad in rose water kept in the fridge and keep it on the eye for 2–3 minutes. Rose water should always be pure and without chemical.

Prevention of dust and strong light: Dust and bright light in pink eye can increase irritation. Keep the child in a place where the air and dust are low, and while going out, cover the light cloth on the eyes. Do not keep in the sun for a long time.

Timely consultation with a doctor: If the redness, swelling or water of the eye is not reduced in 2 days, then meet the pediatrician immediately. Home remedies should be adopted only in early and mild cases. Do not give any medicine or eye drop without doctor’s advice.
