US President Donald Trump said that America has no alternative plan in case talks with Iran fail. This warning has come at a time when high level delegations from both sides are meeting in Islamabad today.

What will happen if US-Iran talks fail?

When Trump was asked whether Washington has any alternative plan ready if US-Iran talks fail and Tehran refuses to open the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said that there is no need for a backup plan. His army has been defeated. They have very few missiles and their production capacity is also very low. We have given them a severe blow. Our army is amazing and the work they have done is commendable.

The US has reportedly deployed more troops to the Middle East, while a two-week ceasefire has brought a rare moment of peace to the Gulf region after weeks of fighting.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the Iranian delegation led by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and including Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad this morning. Pakistan Minister Ishaq Dar and Army Chief Asim Munir welcomed him.

JD Vance also reached Pakistan

Vice President JD Vance has also reached Islamabad to lead the American side in the talks. Before leaving Paris, he warned Tehran not to mess with Washington. “If they try to mess with us, they will find that the negotiating team will not be so cooperative,” he said.

What were the differences over the terms of the first talks?

Earlier there were differences between America and Iran on the terms of talks. The Trump administration had prepared a 15-point framework that reportedly demanded Iran to give up highly enriched uranium and accept limits on its military power. On the other hand, Iran had sent its 10-point plan, in which it demanded compensation and appealed to America to recognize Tehran’s sovereignty over Hormuz.
