A buffalo from Bangladesh has been viral on social media for many days. This rare species of albino buffalo has been given the nickname Donald Trump because of its distinctive tuft of golden hair. It was to be sacrificed on Eid ul Azha, but after the intervention of Bangladesh’s Tariq Rahman government at the last moment, it was saved from sacrifice. A Home Ministry official gave this information on Wednesday (May 27).

According to the report of news agency Reuters, this buffalo, nicknamed Donald Trump, weighs about 700 kilograms (1,543 pounds). It was already sold for sacrifice on the occasion of Bakrid. After the increasing interest of the public regarding this buffalo, its sacrifice was banned on the instructions of the government citing security concerns.

Bangladesh Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has given instructions not to sacrifice the buffalo and to return the money to the buyer. Along with this, he has ordered to send this buffalo to the National Zoo in the capital Dhaka. A Home Ministry official said, “In view of security concerns and unusual interest of the people, the decision to save the buffalo from sacrifice was taken at the last moment.” What started as a normal Bakrid shopping incident immediately became a topic of discussion across the country after the video went viral. The owner of the farm, Ziauddin Mridha, said that it was named Donald Trump by his younger brother, who gave him this nickname because the buffalo’s appearance resembled that of the American President. Ziauddin Mridha further said that this animal has an unusually calm nature and requires careful care, which includes frequent feeding and regular bathing.

However, Congress Party MLA Rafiq Khan has expressed objection to these statements. He accused BJP of dividing the society and said that BJP always works to spread hatred.

He directed to maintain tight security arrangements across the state on the occasion of Bakrid.

Instructions were given that all the officers should take out flag march in their respective areas from the morning of Bakrid. Anti-social elements will be monitored and social media will also have to be kept a close watch. Districts should make complete preparations in advance to ensure that tension does not arise at any place.

What did the DGP of Bihar say?

On this occasion, Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar said that this three-day long festival should be celebrated in a peaceful manner. Riot control force, police and district force personnel will conduct route marches at sacrifice sites and sensitive areas.

The DGP said that riot control vehicles and adequate body suits should be available. Special monitoring will be maintained in sensitive areas. Amid the controversy over conducting the examination on the day of Eid-ul-Azha i.e. Bakrid, Delhi University (DU) has assured to extend the exam date. Delhi University told the High Court on Tuesday (May 26, 2026) that students who want to celebrate Bakrid should inform the Dean, after which the exam date will be rescheduled to July 4.

Some teachers and students of Delhi University had challenged the decision to conduct the examination on the day of Eid-ul-Azha i.e. May 28. He had demanded that the date of the examination to be held on May 28 should be changed, so that the students and employees celebrating Bakrid are not inconvenienced. DU has told the High Court that students who want to celebrate Bakrid should inform the Dean of the Law Faculty, after which the exam will be scheduled on July 4. However, students will be informed about the new date at least a week before the exam.

On Monday, a release from Delhi University’s General Branch-2 said that all offices, faculties, departments, colleges and institutes of the university will remain closed on May 28 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. However, the notification also clarified that the examinations will be conducted as per the schedule.

After this announcement, many members of Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) wrote a letter to Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh requesting to postpone the examinations of May 28. The teachers’ letter states that thousands of Muslim students, teachers and staff will not be able to participate in the customs related to Eid.

Pakistan ahmadiyya community: Religious extremists in Pakistan allegedly stopped members of the Ahmedia minority community from offering Eid prayers in at least seven cities. According to the Jamaat-e-Ahmedia Pakistan (JAP), Ahmadiyas were stopped from offering Eid prayers in Khushab, Mirpur Khas, Lodharan, Bhakkar, Rajanpur, Umarkot, Larkana and Karachi. He said that religious extremists, along with the local administration, stopped the Ahmadiyya community from offering Eid prayers within their places that offer their prayers. He said that Giri Shahu, the oldest Ahmadi worship site of Lahore, was surrounded by TLP workers on Eid on Saturday and demanded the police to seal it. He said that the police took action on his call and sealed the place of offering Ahmadiya’s prayers.
