Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday (August 7) targeted his opponent Uddhav Thackeray. He said that Uddhav Thackeray supports the Congress who insulted Balasaheb Thackeray. Eknath Shinde said that former Chief Election Commissioner MS Gill, who ‘snatching’ the franchise of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray was ‘rewarded’ by the Congress.

Uddhav Thackeray at one time called Eknath Shinde a ‘traitor’. Criticizing this, Eknath Shinde said that he was Uddhav Thackeray who had compromised with Bal Thackeray’s Hindutva ideals.

‘Went to the leader’s residence who insulted Bal Thackeray’

To this, Eknath Shinde said, “It is surprising that he is going to the residence of the leader of the party who rewarded the person who snatched away the franchise of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray.”

Shinde said that it was the Congress that ‘rewarded’ by giving former Chief Election Commissioner Gill as a minister in the UPA government, who denied Balasaheb Thackeray of franchise.

In the politics of Maharashtra, where the tussle is seen more these days, a different view was seen in the Vidhan Bhavan campus on Monday. The small conversation between Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and BJP MLC Praveen Darekar caught everyone’s attention. The two leaders are politically considered opposed to each other.

The incident occurred when the monsoon session of the assembly was going on. Darekar submitted a report to Uddhav Thackeray which was associated with a Swapunvikas project.
