Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for 18 attacks on Pakistani security forces in Balochistan and claimed that 31 Pakistani soldiers, including a senior officer, were killed in these attacks. BLA spokesperson Jiyand Baloch said in a statement that the organization’s fighters carried out actions like IED blasts, ambush attacks and highway blockades between May 4 and May 14. These attacks were carried out in many areas of Balochistan including Jamuran, Noshki, Mastung, Kalat, Kech, Gwadar, Panjgur, Dalbandin and Chamlang.

The BLA claimed that seven people linked to state-backed armed groups and alleged military intelligence agencies were also killed in the attacks. According to the BLA, the biggest attack took place on May 13 in Bala Dak area of ​​Chamlang, where the organization’s fighters targeted a Pakistani Army convoy. The organization claimed that this attack was carried out on the basis of accurate information received from its intelligence wing Jirab. The statement said that first an army vehicle was blown up with a remote controlled IED and then the second vehicle was attacked with heavy weapons.

Claim of killing of 8 Pakistani soldiers

It was claimed that 8 Pakistani soldiers including officer Tausif Bhatti were killed in the attack. In Sheikh Wasil area of ​​Mastung, BLA claimed that its fighters attacked a convoy of 20 large vehicles and their security team on the Quetta-Taftan Highway. According to the organization, during this period eight vehicles carrying minerals were disabled and six soldiers were killed. The BLA also claimed that its fighters blocked the Quetta-Taftan highway between Lag Aap and Khajangi in Dalbandin for more than two hours. According to the organization, during this time three people associated with the Siyah Diq project were detained and a vehicle of the Reko Diq project was captured.

In Noshki the BLA claimed that its fighters conducted a blockade and investigation operation for several hours in the Sar Mal and Jorkan areas. According to the organization, army vehicles moving towards Sar Mal were targeted, in which one vehicle was destroyed and three soldiers were killed. The BLA also claimed that on May 14, its fighters launched a major operation in the Dringarh area of ​​Mastung and took control of the area, capturing the local police station and other government buildings and taking away arms and ammunition. In Panjgur, the organization claimed that two people belonging to the state-backed armed group were killed on the CPEC route. In its statement, BLA remembered five of its fighters killed in the recent clashes and said, ‘Their shed blood is proof that as long as even a single son of the Baloch land survives, the occupying state and its exploitative projects cannot be permanent.’

This brigade was created in the year 2010-11. It was created by former BLA leader Aslam Achu. It was named after two brothers, Majid Langov Sr. and Majid Langov Jr. Majeed Langove Sr. was killed in 1974 in an attempt to attack Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Majid Langov Jr. was killed during a security forces operation in 2010. This brigade was created in his honour.
