Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar has suffered a big shock. Telangana High Court has refused to grant any kind of interim protection to his son Sai Bhagirath, arrested in the POCSO case. Bhagirath is accused of being an accused in the case registered under the POCSO Act. After this decision of the court, there is no longer any legal obstacle left to stop the police from arresting him.

During the hearing in the High Court, the judge clearly said that in a serious case like POCSO, interim protection cannot be given to the accused. The court said that it cannot order a stay on the arrest of Bhagiratha. The final decision in the matter will now rest with the next vacation bench.

Hearing in Telangana High Court, Hyderabad

This case was registered in a police station in Telangana and its hearing is going on in the Telangana High Court, Hyderabad. Bhagirath had filed an anticipatory bail petition to avoid arrest. However, the court did not give him any relief at present. During the hearing, the prosecution told the court that Bhagirath was not cooperating in the investigation. According to the police, he did not come forward for questioning and is trying to avoid arrest. On this basis the court refused to grant interim protection.

Demand to stop the arrest of Bhagirath

The defense lawyers had demanded from the court that Bhagirath’s arrest be stayed till the next hearing, but the judge rejected this request. After this decision of the court, the pressure on the police to take action has increased. The political atmosphere is also heated regarding this matter. Opposition parties are already raising questions on the action of the government and police. Now it remains to be seen what further steps the police take after the court order.
