In recent times, tension is clearly visible in the relations between India and Bangladesh. India has expressed concern after the incident of mob lynching of a minority Hindu youth in Bangladesh. After the ouster of Sheikh Hasina government from power, diplomatic relations between the two countries were not the same as before. In such an environment, the question has started rising in the minds of people that if the situation worsens, which country will prove to be more powerful.

According to the report of Global Fire Power Index, there is a lot of disparity between India and Bangladesh in terms of military capability. India is ranked fourth in the world while Bangladesh is down 31 places to 35th. Because of this, India is counted among the largest military powers of Asia, whereas Bangladesh’s army is considered mainly limited to regional security and internal stability.

India gets a huge lead

Talking about air power, India has a huge advantage here. The Indian Air Force has a large number of modern fighter aircraft, multi-role fighter jets, 140 attack helicopters and advanced air defense systems. India has about 1,080 combat aircraft. In comparison, Bangladesh’s Air Force is much smaller. It has only 100 fighter planes and 100 helicopters. Let us tell you that the role of air power is very important in any modern war. India appears to be far ahead on this front.

India’s strength many times greater

Even in the ground forces, India’s strength is considered to be many times greater. The Indian Army has approximately 5,978 tanks, armored vehicles, artillery systems and a large number of trained soldiers. At the same time, Bangladesh Army cannot compete with India in terms of size and resources. In the event of a large-scale ground war, India has a clear advantage. Bangladesh has only 662 tanks.

Indian Navy is far ahead

If we talk about sea power, the difference is even more clear. The Indian Navy has 2 aircraft carriers, 20 submarines, including nuclear submarines, and dozens of state-of-the-art warships, which give India a strategic edge in the Indian Ocean region. Bangladesh Navy is mainly limited to coastal defense and its maritime capability is quite weak. This can be gauged from the fact that Bangladesh neither has any aircraft carrier nor any submarine. It has only 6 corvette warships, which are mainly limited to coastal security.

Huge difference in defense budget

Defense budget is also a big measure to understand the military strength of both the countries. India invests heavily in defense every year, due to which new technology, weapons and military research keeps getting strengthened. India’s defense budget is 50 times more than that of Bangladesh, due to which India is able to continuously invest in modern weapons, technology and research. According to PIB report, India’s defense budget is Rs 6.81 lakh crore. In comparison, Bangladesh’s defense budget is $3.34 billion, due to which its military capabilities remain limited.

The atmosphere of protests against India has increased after the incident of mob lynching of a minority Hindu citizen in Bangladesh. The Indian High Commission office in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, was surrounded and an incident of stone pelting and anti-India sloganeering was carried out there. After the ongoing tension with India, Bangladesh is busy strengthening its army. In such a situation, today we will tell you which aircraft and missile systems the Bangladesh Army has.

Bangladesh Army is at 43rd position compared to 145 countries.

According to the report of Global Fire Power website, the military strength of Bangladesh is at 35th position compared to 145 countries of the world. At the same time, if we talk about the air power of Bangladesh, it is at number 43 among 145 countries. There are a total of 214 military aircraft in Bangladesh’s air fleet, of which the total number of fighter aircraft like F-7, MiG-29 and Yak-130 is 42, while Bangladesh has 65 helicopters. Whereas, if we talk about attack helicopter, Bangladesh does not have even one.

Apart from this, Bangladesh Army has 56 self-propelled artillery, 546 towed artillery, total number of rocket artillery is 110. At the same time, Bangladeshi Army also has Turkish-made modern TRG-300 Tiger Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS). Tiger missile and T-122/300 Multi Caliber and Multi-Caliber Rocket Launching (MBRL) system have been integrated in this weapon system. Bangladesh had purchased this rocket system in the year 2021 at a cost of about $60 million. A total of three batteries of this weapon system of Bangladesh were found in it.

This missile system can successfully hit targets at a range of 3 km to 100 km. 4 rounds of 300 mm or 40 rounds of 122 mm rocket can be installed in this missile launcher unit.

from pakistan JF-17 Bangladesh can buy fighter aircraft

At the same time, Bangladesh has shown interest in Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft. Its striking distance can be more than 3,400 km. JF-17 Thunder is considered the main strength of Pakistani Air Force, its new Block-III version is a 4.5 generation multirole fighter, which has been jointly developed by Chengdu Aircraft Corporation and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex.

Bangladesh’s former PM Sheikh Hasina has been found guilty and sentenced to death by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT). Sheikh Hasina has described this decision as one-sided and politically motivated. The former PM of Bangladesh said, ‘This decision was given without hearing my side. This decision has been given by a tribunal which is being run by an unelected government. He has no mandate from the public. This is completely wrong.

Bangladesh court found Sheikh Hasina guilty

Sheikh Hasina, who has been living in India since the fall of her government on August 5 last year, has been sentenced by the International Criminal Tribunal-Bangladesh (ICT-BD). Earlier the court had declared him a fugitive. Reading out the verdict in court, the tribunal said the prosecution had proved beyond any doubt that Hasina was behind the deadly crackdown on student-led protests between July 15 and August 15 last year.

I was not given a chance to present my side: Sheikh Hasina

A report by the United Nations Human Rights Office estimated that 1,400 people were killed during the nearly month-long movement known as the ‘July Uprising’. Sheikh Hasina said, ‘This decision was decided earlier. I was neither given a chance to present my side nor to be represented by my lawyer. There is nothing international in ICT.

Sheikh Hasina claimed that the tribunal had only prosecuted Awami League members, while ignoring violence allegedly perpetrated by political opponents. Former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan was also sentenced to death, while a former police officer was sentenced to five years in prison after turning approver.

Sheikh Hasina’s allegations against Yunus government

Former PM Hasina said that no respectable or legal person in the world will support Bangladesh ICT. He argued that this court was being used to remove the last elected Prime Minister of Bangladesh and eliminate the Awami League as a political force. He further alleged that Yunus’ forces launched retaliatory attacks across the country and looted hundreds of homes, businesses and properties of Awami League leaders and workers.

The International Criminal Tribunal (ICT) of Bangladesh is going to pronounce its verdict on the alleged charges against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday (17 November). Citing part of an investigation report, the judge said that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had ordered the use of helicopters and lethal weapons to kill civilians protesting in the country. The report claims that the order is based on an alleged conversation between Sheikh Hasina and former South Dhaka Municipal Corporation mayor Sheikh Fazal Noor Taposh.

The ICT judge also said that the investigation team has thoroughly investigated the incidents and statements of many witnesses have been recorded. The report also indicated that the purpose of the order was to control the protests, but it did not shy away from risking the life of any citizen. ICT said that Sheikh Hasina’s crime is against humanity. At the same time, charges have also been framed against the former Home Minister of Bangladesh.

What did the judge say?

Quoting the investigation report, the judge said that Sheikh Hasina’s government got Abu Syed’s postmortem report changed four to five times. Abu Syed was killed during police firing on 16 July 2024. Her death gave further impetus to student-led protests demanding the ouster of Sheikh Hasina’s government. The judge said that the government threatened the doctor and said that there was an intelligence report against him, due to which the doctor was forced to change the postmortem report of Abu Syed.

ICT has made serious allegations against Sheikh Hasina, saying that she had ordered to kill the protesting students. In the report read by the Chief Justice of ICT, Hasina had given instructions to take violent action against the protesting students in a phone conversation with the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University. The judge said that Hasina insulted the students of Dhaka University and this enraged the students. The judge said that Hasina had ordered action to harm the students. The court said that his statements were not only derogatory but also inciting violence.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) led by former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has advised Mohammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the country’s interim government, not to have any dispute with the army. Khaleda Zia has warned Yunus that the interim government should not maintain any kind of tension with the Bangladesh Army. This comment of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has come on the ongoing legal actions in the civilian tribunal against the military officers, which are being formed due to the growing differences between the interim government and the army in the country.

Khaleda Zia gave warning in emergency meeting of political parties

Khaleda Zia gave this warning during an emergency meeting called by Mohammad Yunus with political parties in Dhaka. Many political organizations like Jamaat-e-Islami, student-led National Citizen Party (NCP) and Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) participated in this meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to resolve the pressure and controversies arising over the government’s decision to prosecute military personnel. In this meeting BNP said that the country should remain in a balanced state. We don’t want to take any risks because we won’t be able to afford it. Along with this, the party stressed the need to maintain unity and stability in the country before the general elections proposed in February next year.

International Criminal Tribunal of Bangladesh issued warrant

It is noteworthy that the International Criminal Tribunal of Bangladesh (ICT-BD) last week issued arrest warrants against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with 16 active army officers and 14 others. Against whom allegations have been made of forced disappearance, kidnapping and torture of political opponents during the previous regime.

After the warrants were issued against the military officers, Bangladesh Army informed that out of the 16 officers against whom warrants have been issued, 15 are in military custody, while one Major General has absconded.

Efforts to make the country an Islamic country under the leadership of Mohammad Yunus in Bangladesh have intensified. Yunus and the Islamic-Jehadi elements active in his rule are engaged in their mission and are plotting to take possession of the national security institutions of the country. However, the army of Bangladesh remains an obstacle in this path so far. For this reason, the army is being targeted through careful cleaning campaign. Yunus wants to convert the army of radical Bangladesh at its behest into an Islamic military system on the lines of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Core (IRGC).

Yunus rule is surrounded by Islamic elements
Mohammad Yunus has a strong network of Islamic elements. His government is working on the Erdogan model of Türkiye. Pressure is being put in protest. At the same time, terrorist groups like al-Qaeda and Hiz-Ut-Tahrir are also openly active and are working on their agenda.

Inspiration from Pakistan
The Islamic fundamentalists of Bangladesh are taking inspiration from Pakistan, where the jihadi extremism is raised under the umbrella of the army. In contrast, the Bangladesh army has been continuously taking action against the fundamentalists. The Army of Bangladesh has been acting like a shield against extremism for decades. DGFI destroyed the training camps of the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA). Apart from this, Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JM-B), Harakal ul Jihad Al Islamic (HUJI-B) and Ansar al-Islam action and demolished the ISI-related terrorist network.

The biggest obstacle for army fanatics
For Islamic groups, DGFI and army are the biggest obstacles in the path of their jihadi agenda. Therefore, they are being targeted in a systematic manner. The Yunus rule has already filed allegations of crime against humanity against former DGFI chiefs. According to sources, Army Chief General Waqar Ujan is also being planned to be targeted with similar steps. The final objective of this entire plan is to weaken the army and replace it with an Islamic army like IRGC, so that Yunus rule and its supporters can implement their radical agenda.

Bangladesh Politics: What has been going on in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka and other cities for the last nine months has become not only anger on the road, but has become a foundation for a constitutional and political crisis. On 5 August 2024, the fall and exile of Sheikh Hasina’s government was not a simple event. This was a historical change in the power structure of Bangladesh. The Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus, who came to power with this change, and his interim government, now seems to be trapped in the cycle of political pressure and public expectations.

On 24 May 2025, Mohammad Yunus and his colleagues clearly stated that if the government’s work is hindered, then strict decisions will be taken with the support of the public. The direct message of this statement was to BNP, army and Islamic groups, who are constantly pressurizing to hold elections by December 2025. It was rumored that Yunus could resign from the post of Chief Advisor, but was later denied confirmation. Several colleagues, including student leaders, were worried about the possibility of Yunus resignation.

Restoration of democracy or competition of power?

BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) claims that former minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleges that a well -planned conspiracy to postpone the election is going on, which is being denied the rights of citizens of voting. However, on this issue, Army Chief General Vakar-e-Zaman publicly said that an elected government has the right to decide the future of the country. This statement is being seen as a constitutional warning and can force the Yunus government to take decisive action.

Trying to affect the Yunus government

The National Citizen Party (NCP) and Islamic groups formed by the students together set up a mass movement against the Sheikh Hasina government on July 24 last year. Today the same powers are trying to influence the Yunus government as well. Due to this, the decline of the economy is being seen. Failure of law and order is coming out. There is only a sure about the election. Due to these reasons, the popularity of Yunus government is being seen to decline.

Bangladesh Political Crisis: There is a political upheaval in Bangladesh these days. An emergency meeting was held with advisors amidst the discussion of the resignation of Atmim chief Mohammad Yunus, after which Yunus would remain in the office. Earlier there was a discussion that he could resign due to political and military pressure.

Planning Advisor Wahiduddin Mahmood said on Saturday (May 24, 2025), “Muhammad Yunus has not shown any interest in leaving his post. The Chief Advisor will be with us. He did not say that he will resign and likewise all other advisors will continue their work. We are due to the responsibilities given here.”

Mohammad Yunus called a meeting

Earlier, Mohammad Yunus, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, on Saturday convened a meeting of the Advisory Council to review the increasing discomfort between his administration, political parties and the army. A few hours before this, Younus expressed his desire to step down from the post of Chief Advisor. He cited the difficulties in working due to the lack of consensus among political parties about the change.

News agency ‘UNB’ quoted sources as saying that Younus will currently hold a meeting with advisors (actually ministers) soon after the meeting of ECNEC (Executive Committee of National Economic Council). ” Younus is expected to meet advisors before constant meetings with former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami on Saturday. According to the press branch of the Chief Advisor, the BNP delegation will meet the Chief Advisor at seven in the evening, while the leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami will meet at eight o’clock in the night.

Mohammad Yunus has expressed his desire to resign

Yunus on Thursday night told the leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) led by the students that they are considering resigning, as they feel that the situation is ‘such is such that he cannot work.’ Earlier, he had allegedly expressed his desire to resign in the cabinet meeting held in the day.

Bangladesh army emergency meeting over coup rumors: Is the army going to coup soon in Bangladesh? This question has been arising for several days. This is why the army chief has questioned Mohammad Yunus’s government many times. However, he has now denied these media reports. Bangladesh Army officials on Tuesday (March 25) called a media report completely false and fabricated, claiming that the army’s top officials had called an emergency meeting. The army rejected this report as a serious lapse of journalism. The Army’s Media Branch Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has described it as a case of misinformation and rumor.

According to the statement issued by ISPR, the report which claimed that “Bangladesh Army Holds Emergency Meeting AMID Possibility of Coup Against Chief Chief Adviser Mohammad Yunus” is based on a complete confusion and false information. This report is an example of a serious lapse of journalism, in which no reliable source or concrete evidence has been mentioned. ISPR said the meeting was a general administrative meeting, which was incorrectly introduced as a coup of coup.

Question on the veracity of allegations
ISPR’s statement clarified that the report did not have any concrete evidence or reliable information, which could confirm that the coup was being planned. The army described this report as “false and malicious” and said that this rumor is completely concocted. This is not the first time the media organization concerned has made incorrect reporting against the Bangladesh Army. Earlier, the same media group published another report in March 2025, which was rejected by the Bangladesh Army at that time.

The news is being updated …

Bangladesh Political Crisis: The political situation in Bangladesh has remained unstable for the last few days, and as a result the possibility of coup has increased. On Monday, the Bangladesh army held an emergency meeting amid political tension, in which the country’s leading military officials participated. Since this meeting, there are speculations that the army may soon control power.

The emergency meeting of the army included 5 Lt Gen, 8 Major General (GOC), Commanding Officer of Independent Brigade and other chief officers of Army Headquarters. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss the army’s strategy amid political instability. The army has increased its activism since this meeting, due to which the possibility of coup has become stronger.

Mohammad Yunus’s power and dissatisfaction
Ever since Mohammad Yunus has taken power, dissatisfaction and mistrust has been increasing in Bangladesh. Various political parties and students have also raised their voice against the army, which has also created a situation of protest inside the army. According to reports, the army can now pressurize the President to declare emergency or remove Mohammad Yunus from power.

National Unity Government Scheme
The army is planning to form a national unity government, which will be completely under the army. The purpose of this government will be to eliminate the political instability of the country. According to sources, this step of coupling the army can be taken because since Yunus came to power, there has been an increased dissatisfaction with the people.

China tour and regional relations
Mohammad Yunus is going to visit China soon, which is important for Bangladesh. This tour can not only affect the political equations of the country, but can also change the China-Bangladesh relations, which will affect the regional power balance.
