Bangladesh’s Youth and Sports Affairs Advisor Asif Nazrul has raised the question that perhaps the International Cricket Council has not yet fully understood the situation of Bangladesh. Asif Nazrul said, “After reading the ICC letter that we received today, we have understood that they have not properly understood the serious security situation prevailing for Bangladeshi cricketers in India. To me, this is not only a matter of security but it also seems to be an issue of insult to the country. Still, we are considering it primarily as a security issue.”

Will not tolerate insult to the country…

Asif Nazrul further said that there is a huge craze for cricket in Bangladesh and the team definitely wants to play the World Cup. He further said, “We do not want to discuss the communal situation in India, but when it comes to the safety of our cricketers, the honor and dignity of Bangladesh, then this question is bound to arise.”

Nazrul also talked about Mustafizur Rahman. Taking aim at the BCCI, he said, “When the Indian Cricket Board itself is telling Kolkata Knight Riders that it cannot provide security to this particular player and has asked him to drop him, it shows that it is not safe for us to play in India.”

He told that before going on any foreign tour, government permission is required. Aminul said that he will continue to fight for his rights regarding this World Cup. The Chairman also said that Bangladesh has played many World Cups before, but till now no such objection had been raised from its side.

Propaganda is being run

The BCB President further said, “The ICC telling us that it is impossible to hold Bangladesh’s matches in Sri Lanka is all propaganda being run, this is completely false news. We are in constant touch with the ICC and they have asked us to put forward our problems. We are currently putting forward the same problems.”

He was also asked what losses could occur to Bangladesh by not going to India for the T20 World Cup? On this, the BCB President said that the board has also considered such a situation. Giving an example, he said that the Indian team had not gone to Pakistan during the Champions Trophy 2025, similarly the Pakistani team has not gone to India in the last few World Cups.

The BCB President has clearly said that due to the security arrangements in India, he will have to forgo the World Cup, but will not back down from his decision.
