Bangladesh Politics: Bangladesh’s Care Taker PM Mohammad Yunus has once again reiterated that he will not hold the post even one day after June 30 next year. He gave this statement in a meeting with the recent political parties. According to The Sun’s report, his press secretary Shafiqul Alam said that Professor Yunus clarified that the elections will be held between December 2025 to June 2026 and he will not hold the post after June 30. This announcement has made Bangladesh’s unstable political situation more clear, where heavy differences continue between the interim government, the opposition and the ruling party.

Bangladesh’s Care Taker PM Mohammad Yunus also said in the meeting that we are in a war -like situation. Awami is trying to destabilize the country after the league ban. We have to avoid this. This statement indicates that Bangladesh is in a social and politically highly sensitive situation, where maintaining peace has become a challenge.

BNP demands election date and cabinet restructuring
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) recently demanded Yunus to hold elections by December 2025. Apart from this, he has appealed to remove controversial advisors and create a new advisory council. On the matter, senior BNP leader Khandekar Musharraf Hussain joined Yunus at his residence and requested the announcement of a clear election roadmap.

Consider to resign
According to sources, Younus told the leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) earlier this week that they are considering resigning. He also said that he is not able to work due to lack of consensus among political parties. In Thursday’s cabinet meeting, he also reiterated the same thing, although his colleagues celebrated him not to resign. Yunus said that elections will be held between December 2025 and 30 June 2026, but this clear deadline or date has not been announced yet.

Bangladesh Politics: What has been going on in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka and other cities for the last nine months has become not only anger on the road, but has become a foundation for a constitutional and political crisis. On 5 August 2024, the fall and exile of Sheikh Hasina’s government was not a simple event. This was a historical change in the power structure of Bangladesh. The Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus, who came to power with this change, and his interim government, now seems to be trapped in the cycle of political pressure and public expectations.

On 24 May 2025, Mohammad Yunus and his colleagues clearly stated that if the government’s work is hindered, then strict decisions will be taken with the support of the public. The direct message of this statement was to BNP, army and Islamic groups, who are constantly pressurizing to hold elections by December 2025. It was rumored that Yunus could resign from the post of Chief Advisor, but was later denied confirmation. Several colleagues, including student leaders, were worried about the possibility of Yunus resignation.

Restoration of democracy or competition of power?

BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) claims that former minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleges that a well -planned conspiracy to postpone the election is going on, which is being denied the rights of citizens of voting. However, on this issue, Army Chief General Vakar-e-Zaman publicly said that an elected government has the right to decide the future of the country. This statement is being seen as a constitutional warning and can force the Yunus government to take decisive action.

Trying to affect the Yunus government

The National Citizen Party (NCP) and Islamic groups formed by the students together set up a mass movement against the Sheikh Hasina government on July 24 last year. Today the same powers are trying to influence the Yunus government as well. Due to this, the decline of the economy is being seen. Failure of law and order is coming out. There is only a sure about the election. Due to these reasons, the popularity of Yunus government is being seen to decline.
