According to The Sun’s report, his press secretary Shafiqul Alam said that Professor Yunus clarified that the elections will be held between December 2025 to June 2026 and he will not hold the post after June 30. This announcement has made Bangladesh’s unstable political situation more clear, where heavy differences continue between the interim government, the opposition and the ruling party.

On the matter, senior BNP leader Khandekar Musharraf Hussain joined Yunus at his residence and requested the announcement of a clear election roadmap.

Consider to resign
According to sources, Younus told the leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) earlier this week that they are considering resigning. He also said that he is not able to work due to lack of consensus among political parties. In Thursday’s cabinet meeting, he also reiterated the same thing, although his colleagues celebrated him not to resign. Yunus said that elections will be held between December 2025 and 30 June 2026, but this clear deadline or date has not been announced yet.
