The interim government led by Mohammad Yunus in Bangladesh has once again sent a formal letter to India asking that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina be handed over to Dhaka. Bangladesh High Commission based in Delhi has sent this diplomatic note to the Ministry of External Affairs of India.

This request has come at a time when on 17 November 2025, a special court in Dhaka has sentenced Sheikh Hasina to death after finding her guilty of serious crimes against humanity. This is the first official letter after the decision, in which Bangladesh has demanded India to send him back.

Left Dhaka and reached India
Last year in August 2024, Hasina’s government fell due to large-scale violence, political turmoil and protests in Bangladesh. During that time, she left Dhaka and reached India and has been living in India since then. Bangladesh is now arguing that not sending them back even after so long is an obstruction in the judicial process. Meanwhile, she has been living in India for about 15 months.

Bangladesh government claims
Bangladesh government is saying in its letter that the extradition treaty is in force between India and Bangladesh. On this basis, India should be handed over to Sheikh Hasina. Dhaka says that giving shelter in any other country to people found guilty of serious charges is against the justice system. Even before this, Bangladesh had sent a letter to India on the same issue, but no official response was received from India.

India’s reaction is still not clear
The Government of India has not made any comment this time also. Last year, even when Hasina had come to India, India had not given any formal response to Dhaka’s request. Experts believe that this matter is not only legal, but also political and strategic, because it can have a wide-ranging impact on India-Bangladesh relations.

Dhaka court’s decision
In its November 17 verdict, the special court in Dhaka had convicted Sheikh Hasina and her former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan in several serious cases. The court said that both were found to have a direct role in the illegal arrest of opposition leaders, their torture and crimes against humanity. Hasina and her party have been calling these allegations completely politically motivated.

On what basis will India take the final decision?
Legal experts believe that India will take any decision on this issue only when it is confident that his trial has been conducted in a fair manner in Bangladesh. If there are any suspicions like political retaliation or human rights violation in the case, India will not give consent to extradition, hence this matter is currently in a sensitive situation on both diplomatic and legal fronts.

Bangladesh’s former PM Sheikh Hasina has been found guilty and sentenced to death by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT). Sheikh Hasina has described this decision as one-sided and politically motivated. The former PM of Bangladesh said, ‘This decision was given without hearing my side. This decision has been given by a tribunal which is being run by an unelected government. He has no mandate from the public. This is completely wrong.

Bangladesh court found Sheikh Hasina guilty

Sheikh Hasina, who has been living in India since the fall of her government on August 5 last year, has been sentenced by the International Criminal Tribunal-Bangladesh (ICT-BD). Earlier the court had declared him a fugitive. Reading out the verdict in court, the tribunal said the prosecution had proved beyond any doubt that Hasina was behind the deadly crackdown on student-led protests between July 15 and August 15 last year.

I was not given a chance to present my side: Sheikh Hasina

A report by the United Nations Human Rights Office estimated that 1,400 people were killed during the nearly month-long movement known as the ‘July Uprising’. Sheikh Hasina said, ‘This decision was decided earlier. I was neither given a chance to present my side nor to be represented by my lawyer. There is nothing international in ICT.

Sheikh Hasina claimed that the tribunal had only prosecuted Awami League members, while ignoring violence allegedly perpetrated by political opponents. Former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan was also sentenced to death, while a former police officer was sentenced to five years in prison after turning approver.

Sheikh Hasina’s allegations against Yunus government

Former PM Hasina said that no respectable or legal person in the world will support Bangladesh ICT. He argued that this court was being used to remove the last elected Prime Minister of Bangladesh and eliminate the Awami League as a political force. He further alleged that Yunus’ forces launched retaliatory attacks across the country and looted hundreds of homes, businesses and properties of Awami League leaders and workers.

The International Criminal Tribunal (ICT) of Bangladesh is going to pronounce its verdict on the alleged charges against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday (17 November). Citing part of an investigation report, the judge said that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had ordered the use of helicopters and lethal weapons to kill civilians protesting in the country. The report claims that the order is based on an alleged conversation between Sheikh Hasina and former South Dhaka Municipal Corporation mayor Sheikh Fazal Noor Taposh.

The ICT judge also said that the investigation team has thoroughly investigated the incidents and statements of many witnesses have been recorded. The report also indicated that the purpose of the order was to control the protests, but it did not shy away from risking the life of any citizen. ICT said that Sheikh Hasina’s crime is against humanity. At the same time, charges have also been framed against the former Home Minister of Bangladesh.

What did the judge say?

Quoting the investigation report, the judge said that Sheikh Hasina’s government got Abu Syed’s postmortem report changed four to five times. Abu Syed was killed during police firing on 16 July 2024. Her death gave further impetus to student-led protests demanding the ouster of Sheikh Hasina’s government. The judge said that the government threatened the doctor and said that there was an intelligence report against him, due to which the doctor was forced to change the postmortem report of Abu Syed.

ICT has made serious allegations against Sheikh Hasina, saying that she had ordered to kill the protesting students. In the report read by the Chief Justice of ICT, Hasina had given instructions to take violent action against the protesting students in a phone conversation with the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University. The judge said that Hasina insulted the students of Dhaka University and this enraged the students. The judge said that Hasina had ordered action to harm the students. The court said that his statements were not only derogatory but also inciting violence.

Deposed former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has suddenly come forward with a new political stance. The statements given in his latest interview are shocking not only the politics of Dhaka but the entire South Asia. After leaving power in August 2024, Hasina had been continuously blaming America and Pakistan, now she is adopting a very measured and restrained stance.

Soon after the change of regime in August 2024, Hasina had claimed that her government fell due to American interference. Even many of her ministers had said that Washington had paved the way for political instability, but now Hasina is speaking in a completely different tone. In a recent interview she said that she does not blame any one country. According to him, the political situation was worsened by giving him wrong information and the role of Mohammad Yunus was more important in this whole story. This is a completely opposite stance from his earlier statements.

Hasina softens after allegations against Mohammad Yunus

Hasina, who once described Yunus as America’s weapon, is now giving a more balanced statement. He said that Yunus is supported not only by America but also by a large network of western countries. Besides, she was also seen saying that she has no personal grudge against America. His stance indicates that he is preparing to improve relations with Washington.

Changed language regarding Pakistan also

Hasina had given very strong statements against Pakistan after the coup, but now she is making very limited comments and saying that there should be no problem in diplomatic relations between Dhaka-Islamabad. His soft tone is being considered a big signal from the point of view of South Asian geo-politics.

Signs of retreat from dispute over St. Martin island

For a long time, Hasina had been claiming that America wants to increase its dominance on the island of St. Martin. Many times he had said that his government was weakened because of opposing this pressure, but now in his interview he has maintained complete silence on this issue. In his words, some things happened behind closed doors and now is not the right time to discuss them.

Why such big political changes?

Experts believe that there is a deep strategy behind these major changes of Hasina. General elections are to be held in Bangladesh in February 2026 and Hasina is gradually rearranging her political equations. Apart from this, his supporters are openly protesting against the present government and Yunus, due to which the pressure on the ruling system of the country has increased. On the other hand, due to the separation of BNP and Jamaat, the position of the opposition has also become fragmented, due to which the political picture has become more complex.

Train Viral Video: Videos of train related accidents keep appearing on social media. Recently a video has surfaced, in which a person comes in front of the train and the train is seen passing over him, but it is not yet clear whether the person’s life was saved or not. This scene was very dangerous. The video is said to be from Bangladesh.
Train was coming in front, person’s foot slipped

It can be seen in the video that the train is passing through the station. During this time, a lot of people are seen present around the track, seeing which it becomes clear how much carelessness is being taken regarding the security arrangements here.
However, it is not yet known whether the person’s life was saved or not. After this video went viral on social media, many comments came from people. People have blamed the negligence of both the administration and the individual.

For the first time since 1971, a Pakistani warship is going to visit Bangladesh, because after being defeated in Operation Sindoor, Pakistan is now plotting to encircle India through Bangladesh. After the Chief of Staff Committee of Pakistan, Pakistan Navy Chief Naved Ashraf is going to visit Bangladesh next week (8-11 November).

During the visit of Pakistani Navy Chief, it is believed that a warship of Pakistani Navy will also reach Bangladesh. If this happens, it will be the first visit of a Pakistani warship to Bangladesh since 1971.

Bangladesh interim government is strengthening relations with Pakistan

Due to defeat at the hands of India in the 1971 war, Pakistan was divided into two and Bangladesh was born. Since then there was tension between Pakistan and Bangladesh, but the interim government formed after the overthrow of the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina last year (2024) is strengthening relations with Pakistan due to continuous anti-India activities.

Last month, Pakistan Army’s second-ranking top military commander (Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, also visited Bangladesh. Mirza had met Bangladesh’s interim government chief Mohammad Yunus and army chief Waqar uz Zaman. Now Pakistan Navy Chief Ashraf’s visit raises doubts.

Pakistan’s hovercraft deployed in Sir Creek area

The Pakistani Navy Chief had recently visited the disputed Sir Creek area adjacent to Gujarat. During this time, Ashraf had handed over three new hovercraft (special boats running on land and water) to the Pakistani Navy.

Only after Ashraf’s visit to Sir Creek, India has started the major tri-service exercise, Trishul (1-13 November). This exercise is being conducted especially in Sir Creek and Thar Desert of Rajasthan, in which along with the Army, Air Force and Navy, BSF (Border Security Force) and Coast Guard are also participating.

India keeps an eye on every action of neighboring countries

However, considering the proximity of Pakistan and Bangladesh, India has also geared up. Last week, Indian Navy Vice Chief Sanjay Vastyayan had clearly said that every action of Pakistan and Bangladesh is being closely monitored by the three armies of India (Army, Air Force and Navy) and all the intelligence agencies.

The political deadlock in Bangladesh seems to be deepening before next year’s elections. Radical Islamic party Jamaat-e-Islami said on Tuesday (October 28, 2025) that even if the Supreme Court’s decision restores the system of caretaker government, elections cannot be held under it.

According to local media, Jamaat’s lawyer Mohammad Shishir Monir made this comment after the hearing in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on an appeal demanding restoration of the system of caretaker government at the time of elections. This hearing continued for the fourth day on Tuesday.

Provision of caretaker government under SC decision

Bangladesh’s leading daily Jugantor quoted Monir as saying that there is talk of forming a caretaker government within 15 days of the dissolution of Parliament, now there is no Parliament. Parliament was dissolved more than a year ago and an interim government is running the country. Apart from this, there are some other issues, so even if the system of caretaker government is brought back under the decision of the Supreme Court, it is not possible in the upcoming elections.

Last week, on the third day of hearing on appeals and review petitions challenging the 2011 verdict, Jamaat’s counsel told the Supreme Court that the system cannot be effectively implemented under the current interim government as Parliament is inactive.

Call to work like ‘caretaker government’

He further said that whatever decision the Appellate Division makes, it should be in line with the proposals of the July Charter regarding the caretaker government system. Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), on the other hand, recently called on the Mohammad Yunus-led interim government to act as a ‘caretaker government’ to ensure that next year’s elections are held in a free, acceptable and fair manner.

It was said in a media briefing that at this time it is necessary to make the upcoming national parliamentary elections meaningful, fair and acceptable to all. The interim government can play the role of a caretaker government in this direction.

Awami League clash over reform proposals

Uncertainty and political turmoil are increasing in Bangladesh ahead of next year’s elections. The parties that had earlier worked with Yunus to oust the democratically elected government of Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League are now at loggerheads over reform proposals.

After being defeated in Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has now prepared to hatch a conspiracy on the eastern border of India. This is because a top military commander of Pakistan is on a visit to Bangladesh and is preparing to go to areas close to the sensitive chicken-neck area of India. The special thing is that for the first time after former dictator of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf, a four star general has visited Dhaka.

This top military commander of Pakistan is General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee. Shamshad Mirza, who is responsible for coordination between the three wings of the Pakistani Army (Army, Air Force and Navy), is the second most powerful military commander of Pakistan after Asim Munir. After Munir became five star (field marshal), Mirza was made five star general.

Shamshad Mirza will visit Chicken-Neck

According to the information, Shamshad Mirza reached Dhaka with a six-member military delegation of Pakistan on Friday (October 24, 2025) evening. During this visit, Shamshad Mirza is to meet Bangladesh Army Chief Waqar uz Zaman and other military commanders.

There is also news that Mirza and the Pakistani military delegation are also going to visit India’s Chicken-Neck (Siliguri Corridor). However, no official information regarding this tour has been shared by Pakistan or Bangladesh Army. In fact, there are some airstrips of the Second World War in the border areas of Bangladesh near the Siliguri Corridor. These airstrips were used by the US Army in operations against Japan in China. But these airstrips have been closed for a long time.

Air strips can be handed over to Pakistan

Recently, Bangladesh Army Chief Waqar Zaman also visited the old World War II airstrips near Chicken Neck. In such a situation, there is speculation that Bangladesh is once again preparing to hand over these airstrips to America or Pakistan.

In fact, the interim (Yunus) government of Bangladesh is busy in building closer relations with Pakistan. For the last one year, a contingent of Pakistani Army has been training the Bangladeshi Army. At the same time, the presence of American Special Forces commandos has also been seen in Bangladesh.

Assam Chief Minister’s warning to Bangladesh

For the last one year, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus, and his officials have been making absurd statements regarding chicken-neck and north-eastern states. However, no statement has come out from the Indian side regarding the visit of Pakistani military commander to Bangladesh.

Recently, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Bishwa Sharma had warned in a stern tone about Bangladesh’s Khichdi being close to India’s chicken neck. Sharma had said that two chicken necks of Bangladesh would be broken. Sharma was referring to Chittagong (Chattogram) and Rangpur areas of Bangladesh.

Also read:- Russia’s claim: Air defense system shot down 281 Ukrainian drones, 9 drones hovering over Moscow were also destroyed.

Bangladesh has deployed warships and patrol helicopters in its marine area. The interim government led by Mohammad Yunus has taken this decision to protect the precious fish species Hilsa from being caught illegally during her reproduction period. Actually, Hisla fish returns to rivers from the Bay of Bengal to lay eggs every year. Hilsa, who looks like hering, is the national fish of Bangladesh. The people of West Bengal of India like this fish very much in food.

According to the Eurasian Times report, Bangladesh Army officials have said that they have banned fishing for the safety of the breeding areas of Hilsa for 4 to 25 October i.e. about three weeks. According to the statement, 17 warships and patrol helicopters of Navy have been deployed to protect Hilsa fishes. However, a patrol campaign in the sea from Bangladesh Navy can increase tension for India.

How much is the price of Hilsa fish?

Crores of people in Bangladesh depend on Hilsa fish. The price of this fish is 2200 taka in Dhaka i.e. 18.40 US dollars per kg. According to the army statement, warships and sea patrol helicopters are monitoring 24 hours to prevent fishermen infiltration.

Let us know that Indian fishermen catch fish in the salt water of the Ganges river and its huge delta, which fulfills the demand of 10 crore people of Kolkata and West Bengal. The concern of Bangladesh is that if the fishermen caught Hilsa fishes before the demand, then gradually the existence of its national fish can come in crisis.

What is diplomacy about India-Bangladesh Hilsa?

Hilsa diplomacy has been very famous between India and Bangladesh. However, after the collapse of Sheikh Hasina’s government in Dhaka, Mohammad Yunus became the head of the interim government, after which the relationship between the two countries has reduced the warmth. Despite this, Bangladesh had allowed India to export 1,200 tons of Hilsa fish before Durga Puja this year.
