Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) interim president and former captain Tamim Iqbal has given a big statement regarding relations with India and BCCI. He clearly said that now there is no dispute of any kind in his mind regarding the Indian Cricket Board or India. Tamim said that he wants to see the cricket relations between the two countries strengthened again. In an interview given to Indian Express, Tamim described BCCI President Mithun Manhas as his old friend and said that both of them have played a lot of cricket together. Recalling the IPL days, he said that there has always been a relationship of good understanding and respect between them.

Expressed displeasure over the decision to withdraw from the World Cup

Tamim Iqbal called the decision to withdraw from the T20 World Cup 2026 a big mistake of the Bangladesh cricket administration. He said that it was unfair to the players to withdraw from such a big tournament without any concrete discussion and real threat. The former captain said that there are many players who get a chance to play the World Cup only once in their life. In such a situation, it is very sad that their dream is shattered due to administrative decisions. Tamim also said that Bangladeshi players have always been welcomed in India and there was no serious security threat.

Preparation for change in BCB

After taking charge of BCB, Tamim Iqbal now wants to bring changes in the structure of the board. He told that the board has an amount of about Rs 1300 crore and their aim is to invest this money in infrastructure, players’ facilities and improving domestic cricket. Tamim believes that the board cannot be run only by understanding cricket. For this, experts in areas like marketing, finance and branding are also required. He wants to take Bangladesh cricket forward in a more professional manner.

Focus on elections and domestic cricket

Tamim said that he had got 90 days to conduct the elections, but he would try to complete it within 60 days. He also raised questions on the functioning of the previous board. According to him, due to poor management, many local teams of Dhaka had refused to play and the players were not even getting paid on time.

Strict stance on corruption and betting

Tamim Iqbal termed increasing betting and corruption in cricket as a serious threat. He revealed that he has also talked to the Sports Minister and Home Minister on this issue. Tamim wants strict laws to be made against people involved in match fixing and betting. He said that merely imposing a ban will not solve the problem. It is important for players and youth to understand that if they are involved in corrupt activities, they may have to go to jail.
