Actually, many people are getting a message from RBI, which also contains an APK file. In this message it is being claimed that your bank account is going to be blocked because it is related to some suspicious activities. Now the truth of this message has been brought forward by the government itself.

After people’s complaint, government agency PIB Fact Check has shared a post calling this claim completely fake. While sharing the screenshot of this message through PIB’s X (Twitter) account, it has been declared as FAKE. Along with this, the agency has written, ‘Have you also received any message on WhatsApp in the name of RBI, which also contains an APK file? This message claims that your bank account is linked to suspicious transactions and financial information has been asked from you to prevent the account from being blocked?

It is further written in this post, ‘Fraudsters are using such messages to steal your banking and personal information. Never download unknown APK files or click on suspicious links. RBI communicates on WhatsApp only through its two ‘blue tick’ verified numbers. These numbers are also written along with it.
