• Banks will remain closed on January 14 in Assam, Odisha and Arunachal Pradesh for Magh Bihu and Makar Sankranti. In this sequence, there will be no work in banks on this day in Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati and Itanagar.

• Uzhavar Thirunal will be celebrated in Tamil Nadu on 17 January. Bank branches will remain closed in Chennai on this day.
• On January 23, there will be a bank holiday in West Bengal, Odisha and Tripura on the occasion of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti, Saraswati Puja and Basant Panchami. Banks will remain closed in Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Chennai and Kolkata.
• There will be a bank holiday in the entire country on 26th January due to Republic Day.

Bank holiday of 26th and 27th December

Banks will remain closed in the state of Haryana on Friday, 26th December, on account of Shaheed Udham Singh Jayanti. At the same time, closure of banks has been announced in Meghalaya, Mizoram and Telangana on account of Christmas. The next day i.e. 27th December is the fourth Saturday of the month. Due to this, banks are going to remain closed across the country. There is a bank holiday on the second and fourth Saturday of the month across the country.

Diwali Bank Holiday: Today is the festival of Diwali on 20th October. The stock market will remain open on this day. Trading will continue as usual from morning to evening. RBI has instructed all agency banks that banks will open on this day due to work related to government transactions. The agency bank is also called Agent Bank. They do banking related work on behalf of the central or state government such as distribution of subsidy, payment of pension, tax collection (income tax, GST, custom and excise duty), salary of government employees, etc. According to the report, out of 33 agency banks in India, 12 are government banks, 20 private banks and one foreign bank.
