Bank holiday of 24th December

Bank holidays have been announced in Meghalaya and Mizoram on Wednesday, 24 December. Banks here are going to remain closed due to Christmas Eve. If you live in both these places, you should avoid going to the bank branch. Banks will remain open in all cities of the country except Meghalaya and Mizoram.

25th December Bank Holiday

Christmas festival will be celebrated across the country on Thursday, 25th December. Due to Christmas, holiday has been declared in banks of all the cities of the country. You should avoid going to the bank on this day.

Bank holiday of 26th and 27th December

Banks will remain closed in the state of Haryana on Friday, 26th December, on account of Shaheed Udham Singh Jayanti. At the same time, closure of banks has been announced in Meghalaya, Mizoram and Telangana on account of Christmas. The next day i.e. 27th December is the fourth Saturday of the month. Due to this, banks are going to remain closed across the country. There is a bank holiday on the second and fourth Saturday of the month across the country.

Bank Holiday Next Week: In the month of December, banks will remain closed on many occasions like Christmas, New Year Eve. As far as the coming week is concerned, banks are going to remain closed for four days between December 8 and December 14. There will be a bank holiday in Meghalaya on Friday, 12th December. Banks will remain closed in Shillong on the occasion of the death anniversary of Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma. Apart from this, functioning of banks across the country will continue as normal on Friday.

18 holidays in december

After this, banks will remain closed across the country on Saturday, September 13 because it will be the second Saturday of the month. RBI has made bank holidays mandatory on the second and fourth Saturday of every month. Apart from this, there will be bank holiday on Sunday also.

• November 5 (Wednesday) — Banks will remain closed in Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla and Srinagar on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, Kartik Purnima and Rahas Purnima.
• 6 November (Thursday) — Banks will remain closed in Patna due to Bihar Assembly general elections 2025. There will be a bank holiday in Shillong also due to Nongkrem dance. It is a festival celebrated for five days, in which men and women perform traditional dance. In this, goat is also sacrificed.
• November 7 (Friday) — All banks will remain closed in Shillong on the occasion of Wangala Utsav. On this day, tribal people offer sacrifices to please Saljong or Sun God.
• 8 November (Saturday) – Kanakdas Jayanti will be celebrated in Bengaluru, hence banks will remain closed on this day. This day is dedicated to poet and social reformer Shri Kanakdas.

Online services will remain operational

The bank may be closed, but online services will remain operational during this period. That means you will be able to make payment for money transactions through ATM, UPI, Net Banking etc.

There is a long list of holidays even in the remaining days of May. The fourth Saturday will be held on 24 May and Sunday on 25 May. On May 26, banks will remain closed on the occasion of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s birth anniversary in Tripura. At the same time, banking services will be disrupted in Himachal Pradesh on May 29 to commemorate Maharana Pratap Jayanti.

However, despite the bank closure, digital banking services such as mobile apps, net banking and ATM services will continue. But customers should keep in mind that transaction services associated with check and prominent note will not be available during these holidays, as they fall under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
