Many people consider banks as just a place to deposit, withdraw money or take loans, but in reality banks are one of the largest employment providing institutions in the country. Thousands of jobs are created every year in both public sector banks and private banks. In these jobs, salary is good, job security is available and there is also opportunity for growth. But the question arises that how to get a job in a bank and which examination has to be given. So let us know what is the complete path to enter the banking sector.

The most important way to get a job in government banks is IBPS exam. Its full name is Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. This is the same organization which conducts examinations every year for recruitment in government banks. Just as UPSC conducts civil services examinations, similarly IBPS handles the responsibility of banking recruitment.

For which posts does IBPS recruit?

Every year IBPS conducts recruitment on a total of seven types of posts. Which includes Clerk, Probationary Officer, Specialist Officer, Regional Rural Bank Officer Scale 1, RRB Officer Scale 2, RRB Officer Scale 3 and RRB Office Assistant. Through these examinations, about 11 big government banks and 43 rural banks of the country recruit. These banks include Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank, Bank of India, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, UCO Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Indian Overseas Bank and Punjab and Sindh Bank. However, the country’s largest bank SBI is not a part of it because SBI conducts its own separate examination.

IBPS Exam Stages and Salary

The recruitment process of IBPS is completed in three main stages. Which includes Prelims, Mains and Interview, but these three are not for all the posts. There are only prelims and mains for the post of clerk. Whereas for PO and SO there are three stages, Prelims, Mains and Interview. If you start working as an IBPS clerk, your starting salary is around Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000, whereas an SBI clerk can get a little more, around Rs 35,000 to Rs 45,000.

The starting salary of RRB clerks working in rural areas is around Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000. If you are at the officer level i.e. RRB PO can get a salary of Rs 55,000 to Rs 65,000, IBPS PO Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000, and highest, SBI PO can get a salary of Rs 80,000 to Rs 1,50,000. Apart from this, bank employees not only get basic salary but also get many types of allowances. Like DA, HRA, medical facilities, travel allowance, and other benefits.

Job path in private banks

Private Banks like HDFC, ICICI, Axis, Kotak Mahindra etc. There is no common examination for recruitment in these banks. Recruitment here continues throughout the year, and is mostly done online or through referral. To get a job here, one must have a degree in B.Com, BBA, BMS, Economics or Finance. But BA, BSc or engineering graduates can also apply.

State Bank of India has given a great opportunity for recruitment to the posts of Specialist Cadre Officer. A total of 103 posts will be filled in this recruitment and the special thing is that there will be no written examination. According to the notification issued by SBI, a total of 103 posts of Specialist Cadre Officer will be recruited, which include 1 post of Head (Product, Investment and Research), 4 posts of Zonal Head (Retail), 7 posts of Regional Head, 19 posts of Relationship Manager-Team Lead, 22 posts of Investment Specialist (IS), 46 posts of Investment Officer (IO), 46 posts of Project Development Manager. (Business) and 2 posts of Central Research Team (Support).

what qualification is required

Different educational qualifications have been fixed for these posts. For the post of Head, preference will be given to candidates with CA, CFA, CFP or NISM certificate along with graduation or post graduation. For Zonal Head, Regional Head and Relationship Manager posts, graduation qualification is necessary. For Investment Specialist and Officer posts, PG degree or diploma or CA/CFA in Finance, Commerce, Banking or Business Management is necessary. MBA or PGDM for Project Development Manager and Central Research Team. For this, graduation in commerce, mathematics or management is required.

what will be the age limit

The age limit of the candidates has been fixed according to the post. The age limit for Head, Zonal and Regional Head has been kept at 35 to 50 years, for Relationship Manager and Investment Specialist it has been kept at 28 to 42 years, for Investment Officer 28 to 40 years, for Project Development Manager 30 to 40 years and for Central Research Team it has been kept at 25 to 35 years.

how much will be charged

In this recruitment, the application fee has been fixed at Rs 750 for General, OBC and EWS category candidates, while no fee will be charged from SC, ST and PwBD category candidates.

How will the selection process happen?

There will be no written examination in SBI SCO Recruitment 2025. The selection process will be based only on shortlisting and interview of 100 marks. Interview can be taken in person, telephonic or through video conference. Final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the merit list interview.
