Maulana Ehsan Rajan Khan, the most senior of the Ala Hazrat Dargah in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, appealed to the local Muslims to return to their homes peacefully after Friday prayers as part of an attempt to establish peace amid tension in the district.

In view of the violence erupted after Friday’s prayers last week, this appeal was made on Thursday, stating that every Muslim will have to return to his homes after Friday prayers. He said that during this time do not pay attention to any rumor and keep peace.

Appeal to people to avoid rumors

Ala Hazrat Dargah is considered to be the most sacred site of the Barelvi sect of Sunni Islam and has a great impact in that region. This appeal has been made at a time when about 2,000 people gathered outside a mosque in the Kotwali area after Friday’s prayers on 26 September.

There was unrest after the protests over the poster controversy “I Love Mohammed”, after which there was an incident of confrontation and stone pelting with the policemen. This protest was called by Tauqir Khan.

Police on high alert for prayer prayers

After this incident, 82 people have been arrested in strict action of the police. Efforts are being made to catch other accused on the basis of CCTV.

In view of the previous violence in Bareilly, today the administration is also on high alert. Internet service has been discontinued for 48 hours in the entire area since Thursday afternoon. The police also conducted a flag march to maintain peace. In view of the prayers of Jumme, strict security arrangements have been made in the area.
