SMAT 2025: On Monday, in the group match of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, such a feat took place, the echo of which is being heard throughout Indian domestic cricket. 26 year old Baroda batsman Amit Pasi created history in his debut T20 match itself. At the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad, he played such an innings by hitting fours and sixes that he has reached number 1 in the list of players who have played the biggest innings in a T20 debut match.

Smoldering century in debut match

Amit Pasi scored 114 runs in just 55 balls in his first T20 match against Services. His innings included 10 fours and 9 sixes. This was not just a century, but a statement by which he announced his arrival in Indian domestic cricket. With this performance, Amit has equaled the record made by Pakistani player Bilal Asif in 2015. Bilal had also scored only 114 runs.

Amit Pasi has become only the third Indian batsman to score a century in his debut match in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Before him, Akshay Reddy in 2010 and Shivam Bhambri in 2019 had achieved this feat. That means, after about 6 years, an Indian has achieved this rare feat.

Baroda’s resounding victory with Amit’s century

Talking about the match, Amit’s innings helped Baroda score a huge score of 220 runs. In reply, Services did make a balanced start but under the pressure of a big target, their run pace slowed down. Kunwar Pathak and Ravi Chauhan scored 51-51 runs, while captain Mohit Ahlawat played a quick inning of 41 runs. The team, which was progressing from 156/2, faltered in the last overs and could score only 207 runs in 20 overs. Baroda won this match by 13 runs and registered its fourth win in the tournament.

Won Player of the Match award in debut match

With the help of Amit Pasi’s century, Baroda made a huge score of 220 runs in 20 overs. Although Services put up a tough fight, the team was seen fighting till the end. Kuwar Pathak (51) and Ravi Chauhan (51) scored half-centuries, although the team remained 14 runs short of the target. Baroda won the match by 13 runs. Amit Pasi was chosen the best player of the match.

After this victory, Baroda team is at third place in the points table of Group ‘C’ with 16 points. The team has won 4 out of 7 matches, while lost 3. This was the sixth defeat out of 7 for Services. Services is at the bottom of the points table, at number 8.
