Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has expressed grief over the demise of renowned poet Dr. Bashir Badr. CM said that he gave tips to make life very easy through his poetry. Bashir Badr died at the age of 91 in Bhopal on Thursday (28 May) afternoon.

Was born in Ayodhya in 1935

Born on 15 February 1935 in Ayodhya, UP, Badr worked as a teacher of Urdu at Aligarh Muslim University. He was famous for his command over language, especially his mastery of ghazals. He was also knowledgeable in Persian, Hindi and English. His real name was Syed Muhammad Bashir. Badr’s collection of 69 ghazals ‘Aas’ is counted among his famous works. Another of his collections, titled ‘Kulliyate Bashir Badr’, has been published in Pakistan.

It is believed that he started writing poetry at the early age of 7 years. According to a website dedicated to Badr Saheb, he was a pioneer in mixing the softness of Urdu with English pronunciation in many of his songs. According to experts, Bashir Badr’s ghazals had freshness, poetics and beauty on the surface of words and sentiments, which separated him from other poets. He published more than seven poetry collections in Urdu and one poetry collection in Hindi.
