There is going to be a big change in the selection committee of the Indian cricket team. Recently, the tenure of Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar was extended till June 2026, while 2 new selectors are reported to have come. According to Cricbuzz, the BCCI selection is going to recruit 2 new recruitment in the panel, for which the last date for application is 10 September. The board has not yet made it clear who will take place of whom, but it was definitely told that two new selectors can come from Central and South Zone.

According to the report published in the cricbing, former India cricketer Pragyan Ojha can replace S Sharat from South Zone. Sharat’s term is over, but the report has no name for the selector coming from the Central Zone.

Qualification for the post of selector

The qualification for the post of National Selector will remain the same as before. The applicant should have at least 7 Test matches or 30 first-class matches. At the same time, applicants playing 10 ODIs or 20 first-class matches will also be considered. Let us tell you that the contract of selectors is renewed each year. A BCCI official said that it has not yet been decided which selectors will be replaced, this process will be started soon.

Who in the current selection committee

Apart from Ajit Agarkar, the current selection committee is being led by SS Das, Subroto Banerjee, Ajay Ratra and S Sharat in the committee. All of them had approved the Herial Squad for the Asia Cup 2025. The job of a selection committee has to be selected for series or tournament at senior and junior levels as well.
