AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has launched a powerful attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. While addressing an election rally in Nizamabad, Owaisi called him a ‘beggar of Rs 2’.

This controversial statement came at a time when Owaisi asked for a two rupee coin from the public present on the stage and waved it in the air and replied to the Assam CM in his own language. This entire matter has come to light as a reaction to a recent statement given by Himanta Biswa Sarma. During the rally, Owaisi asked for a Rs 2 coin from the crowd and as soon as he got the coin, he started taking sharp jibes at the Assam Chief Minister.

Owaisi’s controversial statement
Waving the coin, Owaisi said, “This is 2 rupees. The Chief Minister of Assam is saying that if the Miyan Muslims there take someone in an auto, and if the auto fare is 5 rupees, then give 4 rupees. Himanta Biswa Sarma, I am giving you this alms of 2 rupees, do you take it?” On this style of Owaisi, the entire ground echoed with applause. He further said, “Tell me, you are a beggar of ₹2, I know you. You are such a small person, such a small person that a poor person who drives an auto is after his 4-5 rupees.”

This controversy is related to the statement of the Chief Minister of Assam, in which he had alleged that the ‘Miya Muslims’ (Muslims of Bengali origin) of Assam woo people by keeping the goods in their shops and low fares in auto-rickshaws. Sarma had called it ‘love jihad’ and part of a conspiracy to increase population. Owaisi made fun of this ‘economic jihad’ statement and called him ‘anti-poor’.

‘Will not tolerate insult to the community’
Owaisi’s argument was that a Chief Minister commenting on the earnings of a poor auto driver reflects his thinking. This speech of Owaisi is now going viral on social media and is also a topic of discussion in political circles. He made it clear in his address that he will not tolerate any kind of insult or small-minded statements against his community.
