According to research, if elderly women walk 4,000 steps every day, the risk of premature death and heart diseases can be reduced to a great extent.  The special thing is that for this it is not necessary to take a long walk every day. </p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The study revealed that even if women achieved the goal of walking 4,000 steps just one or two days a week, they could still get significant health benefits. Researchers say that in having a positive impact on health, it is more important how many steps are taken and not how many days in a week the activity is done. The findings challenge the long-popular standard of 10,000 steps per day. Experts believe that there is no fixed or best pattern to get health benefits. The most important thing is to keep the body active and people can do physical activity in any way as per their convenience.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The study found that women who completed 4,000 steps a day one or two days a week had a 26 percent lower risk of death from any cause, compared with women who were relatively less active. According to research, if this goal is achieved three days a week, the benefits can increase further. The risk of premature death in such women was seen to be reduced by 40 percent. Apart from this, the risk of heart disease was also found to be reduced by 27 percent. </p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Although women who walked 5,000 to 7,000 steps per day also got additional benefits, the increase was relatively limited. The risk of death in this group was 32 percent lower, while the risk of death from heart disease was reduced by about 16 percent. The researcher says that after a certain level the pace of profit starts slowing down.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Who were included in the research?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This study conducted by researchers from several institutions including America&#8217;s Harvard University has been published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. 13,547 women were included in the study, whose average age was about 72 years. At the beginning of the study, none of them had heart disease or cancer. During the research, participants were made to wear step count measuring devices for seven days and their health status was monitored for about 11 years. During this period, 1,765 women died, while 781 women developed heart disease.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">At the end of the study, researchers concluded that walking more steps daily was associated with better health outcomes. According to him, for older women, walking 4,000 steps even one or two days a week can prove to be an effective step towards reducing the risk of premature death and heart disease.</p>

<p><strong>How Fast Should You Walk For Heart Health:</strong> A study has revealed that if a person walks continuously for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, it is more beneficial for heart health than walking in short intervals. Especially for people who are less physically active, regular walking reduces the risk of death and heart disease. This means that even a small change in the way of walking can have a big impact on heart health. </p>

According to WHO, every year around 1.79 crore people across the world die due to heart diseases. The simplest way to reduce these risks is walking. But the question is how fast is necessary?</p>

<p>According to a research published in GeroScience in 2023, people who walk at a fast speed, at a speed of about 3 to 4.5 miles per hour, have a lower risk of death from heart-related diseases. Not only this, the risk of stroke and dementia in these people was also found to be less as compared to those who walked slowly. In simple words, this speed is equivalent to covering one mile in 20 minutes to 13 minutes.</p>
<p>Research also shows that even short sessions of brisk walking are very beneficial. If a person walks briskly for just 10 minutes every day and does so for a week, it has been shown to improve fitness, improve mood and reduce the risk of premature death by about 15 percent. Whereas, if you walk briskly for 30 minutes continuously, then it is considered a medium-intensity workout, which is also recommended by the American Heart Association.</p>
<p><strong>How long should it last?</strong></p>
<p>An international study led by experts from Australia&#8217;s University of Sydney and Spain&#8217;s Universidad Europe found that even just walking a few minutes a day can make a big difference in heart health.  The results of this research have been published in Annals of Internal Medicine. According to the researcher, if you walk without stopping for 10 to 15 minutes, its effect on the heart is more positive.</p>

If a 70 kg person jumps rope for 15 minutes, he burns 161 calories. Whereas if an 80 kg person jumps rope for 15 minutes, he burns 184 calories. Which means that on an average, 350 to 400 calories can be burnt in a day by just jumping rope for 15-15 minutes and if this is done twice, about 800 to 900 calories can be burnt. </p>

<p>How many calories are burned while running also depends on weight and speed. If a person weighing 70 kg walks at a speed of 7 kilometers per hour for half an hour, he can burn 184 calories. Whereas if a 55 kg person runs for 1 minute, he burns about 11.4 calories, which means that about 350 calories are burnt by running for 30 minutes. </p>

<p>Walking is considered the easiest exercise. It neither requires a gym nor any special thing is required. Similarly, calorie burn in walking also depends on your weight, speed and fitness level. If you walk slowly for 60 minutes, you burn 200 to 250 calories. Whereas if you walk at a medium pace, you can burn 300 to 400 calories. </p>
