JC of Bengaluru. The city police has arrested an NRI living in America on charges of illegal possession of ammunition. The accused had allegedly left a handgun magazine filled with seven live cartridges in the room of a luxury hotel in the city. This matter came to light when the manager of Jayamahal Palace Hotel lodged a complaint with the police.

According to the police, the accused stayed in the hotel on the night of 27 April 2026 and checked out the next day. Shortly after leaving the hotel, he himself contacted the hotel management and informed them that he had accidentally left the ammunition magazine in his room. The hotel staff investigated the room, from where a magazine of Ruger company was recovered, which contained seven live bullets.

Police officials said that the hotel management contacted the accused several times and asked him to take the magazine, but he did not return. After this, when the hotel manager became suspicious, J.C. A complaint was lodged at the city police station, on the basis of which a case was registered under the Arms Act.

In the preliminary investigation, the accused was identified as 34-year-old Arman. The police called him for questioning on 6 May 2026. During interrogation, he could not produce valid documents related to the bullets and magazine, after which the police confiscated the Ruger magazine and cartridges.

What did the accused say during interrogation?

During interrogation, Arman claimed that the magazine was accidentally left in his luggage. He told that he has a licensed handgun in America. According to the police, he is originally from Bengaluru, but later went to America and took citizenship there. His relatives still live in Bengaluru.

Now the police is investigating how he reached India with the ammunition from the American airport security check. The accused was produced in the court on 7 May 2026, from where he was sent to police custody for 10 days. After the remand ended, he was produced again in the court on May 14, where the court sent him to judicial custody. As part of the investigation, the police have also seized his passport, mobile phone, laptop and other travel documents.
