In this case, the zonal officer of zone number 4, the assistant engineer of PHE and the assistant engineer in charge have been suspended with immediate effect. The Deputy Engineer in Charge PHE has been separated from service.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said in clear words that the incident of citizens getting infected due to contaminated water in Bhagirathpura area has been taken extremely seriously. He said that any kind of carelessness with people’s health will not be tolerated. Along with this, an investigation committee of senior officials has been formed to investigate the matter.

What is the whole matter?

Investigation has revealed that leakage was found in the main water supply line of Bhagirathpura area. This leakage was in the main line located below a toilet adjacent to the post. Due to this leakage, there was a danger of contaminated water getting into the pipeline and the problem of dirty water arose in the area.

Municipal Corporation’s action and further process

Expressing grief over the incident, Indore Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dilip Kumar Yadav said that the Municipal Corporation is working actively on every front since morning. On his instructions, repair work was started immediately at the leakage site. After completion of the improvement work, first of all flushing, chlorination and testing of water samples will be done. Water supply in the area will be restored only after the lab report is completely satisfactory. The Commissioner bluntly said that no compromise will be made with public health and such negligence will not be allowed to be repeated in future.
