India has made great achievements in expanding its indigenous defense industry with the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives. The latest report released by global think tank Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) on Monday (December 1, 2025) contains a list of the top 100 arms manufacturing companies around the world, in which the names of three Indian companies have also been included.

Which Indian companies are included in the list?,

According to the latest report of SIPRI, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), which manufactures Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas fighter jet in India, is ranked 44th in the list of 100 top arms manufacturing companies in the world. At the same time, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), which manufacturers radar and electronic warfare systems, is at 58th position. Mazagon Dockyard Limited (MDL), which manufactures warships and submarines in India, is ranked 91st in SIPRI’s list.

4 American companies among top-5 arms companies

According to the report, four of the world’s top-5 arms manufacturing companies are from America alone, which includes Lockheed Martin, RTX, Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics. One of the first five companies is England based BAE Systems, which is at fourth place in the list.

Record level income from military arms and services in 2024

Global thinktank SIPRI has released its new report titled ‘The SIPRI Top 100 Arms-Producing and Military Services Companies, 2024’ on Monday (December 1, 2025). According to which, the income from sales of the world’s top 100 arms and military services manufacturing companies has reached a record figure of $ 679 billion in 2024.

Talking about the income of America’s top-3 arms companies Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics, the combined income of these three American companies increased by 3.8 percent to reach $334 billion in 2024. 39 American companies are included in the list of world’s top 100 companies, out of which 30 companies have registered an increase in their income.

Bel new orders: Government Defense and Aerospace Company Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) said on Friday, June 20 that the company has received orders worth Rs 585 crore so far since June 5. These include several critical parts and related services including fire control and siting systems for missiles, including communication equipment, jammer.

Earlier, BEL had signed a MOU with Tata Electronics for semiconductor and Advanced Electronics Initiative on 6 June. The purpose of this partnership of both companies is to develop a complete solution in Semacist Fabrication (FAB), OSAT (outsourced semiconductor assembly and test) and chip design, which is in line with the country’s goal of making India self -sufficient in Hitech Manufacturing.

On June 4, BEL also informed about the order of Rs 537 crore. It included Communication Equipments, Shipborn Communication System, Jammer, Software, Simulator Upgrade, Test Rig, Spare and Related Services. The defense electronics portfolio of BEL from these new audiences will be stronger and its scope will also increase in the operational defense domain.

The company has also received a big order of Rs 2,323 crore from Majgaon Dock Shipbuilders and Garden Reach Shipbuilders this month. It has to supply the base and depot-level puffs for missile systems on Indian Navy ships. Overall, Bharat Electronics Limited has received new orders worth about Rs 3,500 crore by June 20, 2025.

With this, BEL shares closed on Friday at Rs 408.05 with a jump of 2.38 percent on Friday. In the last one month, its shares have gained 12.19 percent and 40.27 percent in 6 months. The company has given a return of up to 38.84 percent to investors so far this year with a market capitalization of Rs 2.98 lakh crore.

Dividend will earn strongly through dividend

Hal works in aerospace and defense sector. HDFC Flexi Cap Fund has invested the most in Mutual Funds. Apart from this, foreign investors hold 12.3 percent and domestic institutional investors have 8.2 percent stake in it.

Bharat Forge

Bharat Forge’s dividend yield was 0.82 per cent and in FY25, the company gave a dividend of 2.5 per share, which was the only payment of the whole year. The company works in the forging sector and its market value is 54,126 crore. In this, Nippon India Growth Fund has bought a 1.92 per cent stake (5.44 million shares) for 636.49 crore. However, in the third quarter of FY25, the company’s profit declined 16.4 per cent to 212.78 crore.

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL)

India has recently joined the NIFTY 50 dividend of Electronics 1.5 per share (Ex-Dividend Date- March 11). The company’s dividend yield has been 0.75 percent. BEL is also in the defense and aerospace sector and its market cap is 2.32 lakh crores. In this, Nippon India CPSE ETF has made the biggest investment. Apart from this, domestic institutional investors have 20.9 per cent and foreign investors have 17.3 per cent stake. BEL stock has risen 7.44 percent in the last one month.
