The Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India has launched the country’s first cooperative ride hailing app Bharat Taxi. This app was launched by Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on January 5. This app is being run by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited. Till now it was running as a pilot project in many states including Delhi NCR. But it has been fully launched. After this, now if any person wants to drive his own car in Bharat Taxi Service, then that has also become easy. In fact, Bharat Taxi Service, started under the Ministry of Cooperation, places the driver in the role of owner and not just a driver. What is Bharat Taxi?

Bharat Taxi is being operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited, this organization is registered under the Multi State Cooperative Society Act 2002. It was established on 6 June 2025. Its objective is to increase employment opportunities, provide social security and strengthen economic participation at the grassroots level through the cooperative model. On this platform, the driver is called Sarathi and he is the center of the entire system.

Driver is the owner and commission is also zero on Bharat Taxi App

Bharat Taxi is completely based on cooperative model, in which the drivers are the co-owners and they get the direct benefit of the earnings. Here 0 percent commission is given. Drivers only have to pay a flat access fee of Rs 30 per day, whereas for auto drivers this fee is Rs 18. This gives the driver a chance to earn more than a private aggregator. Apart from this, Bharat Taxi is not just a ride platform, but special care has also been taken for the safety of the driver. Sarathi drivers of Bharat Taxi are given facilities like personal accident insurance of Rs 5 lakh, family health insurance of Rs 5 lakh, retirement savings and driver support system. Apart from this, the facility of quick assistance in emergency and verified ride data is also available.

• It is very easy to register your car in Bharat Taxi, for this first you have to download Bharat Taxi Driver App from Play Store or Apple Store.
• After this, enter your mobile number in the app and verify with OTP.
• Now upload your name, email, vehicle details, driving license, RC and necessary documents.
• After doing this, your profile will be checked through DigiLocker and police verification.
• After getting approval, you can start taking rides on Bharat Taxi app.

The interface of Bharat Taxi app has been kept very easy and user friendly. As soon as you open the app, where you want to go is written on the screen. While booking a ride, many options like Bharat Bike, Bharat Auto, Cab Economy and Cab Priority are visible.

Cheap ride from Ola and Uber

Talking about fares, the rates of Bharat Taxi appear to be lower than those of Ola and Uber. When booking a taxi in areas like Noida, vehicles appeared available with less waiting time. There is no surge pricing system in the app i.e. fare will not increase during rain, traffic or peak hours.

Option to select favorite place also

Users can save their favorite addresses like home and office in this app. With this, there will be no need to enter the address again and again and the ride can be booked in one click.

Metro ticket booking facility also available

One of the special features of Bharat Taxi app is that it also provides the option to book metro tickets. For this, one has to go to the service category and select the option of metro ticket. After selecting the station, payment can be made through UPI.

Currently this app is available in Delhi NCR

Bharat Taxi was first tested in Delhi and Rajkot of Gujarat, which was successful. Now it has been launched in Delhi NCR. There are plans to launch it further in big cities like Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru.

SOS feature for safety

Keeping in mind the safety of passengers, SOS button has been provided in the app. This feature sends a help message to a trusted contact in one click. It is believed that with live tracking and simple user interface, Bharat Taxi is presenting itself as an affordable and safe option.
