The first phase of Bihar assembly elections became historic. On Thursday (November 6), 64.66 percent people voted in the voting held on 121 seats in 18 districts. If we talk about vote percentage, it was about eight and a half percent more than the last election, but this figure is going to increase the tension of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. If we look at the pattern till now, whenever the voting percentage has increased by more than five percent, there has been a change in power.

This time’s election is being considered amazing for Bihar, because this time the maximum voting has taken place. Talking about the year 2020, there was 56.1 percent voting in the first phase, but at that time voting was held for 71 seats in the first phase. However, this time voting took place on 121 seats.

Government changed due to increase in vote percentage

According to the Election Commission data, this time 64.66 percent voting took place in the first phase of Bihar elections. The important thing is that the voting percentage has a direct impact on the election results. If we look at the pattern, whenever voting has increased by more than 5 percent, the government has changed.

When Congress lost power

In 1962, there was 44.5 percent voting, but in 1967, there was 51.5 percent voting. In this way, after increasing the votes by 7 percent, the government was lost from the hands of Congress. For the first time, a non-Congress government was formed in Bihar. Similarly, in 1980, voting was 57.3 percent. Whereas in 1977 there was 50.5 percent voting. There was a gap of 6.8 percent between these elections, yet the government changed. Janata Party had to face defeat and Congress came back to power.

When and what percentage of voting took place in Bihar?

If we talk about 1951-52, there was 42.6 percent voting. After this, voting was 43.24 percent in 1957, 44.47 percent in 1962 and 51.51 percent in 1967. If we talk about 1969, there was 52.79 percent voting and in 1972, there was 52.79 percent voting. In this way, voting was 57.29 percent in 2020 elections, 56.91 percent in 2015 and 52.73 percent in 2010.
