With the formation of the new government in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has prepared a team of 26 ministers. Jama Khan’s name is included as the only Muslim minister in this cabinet, who will hold the ministerial post from Janata Dal United (JDU) quota. Jama Khan is not only considered close to Nitish Kumar, but his political journey has also been full of ups and downs and interesting turns.

Jama Khan, MLA from Chainpur in Kaimur district, has been the Minority Welfare Minister and may get the same important responsibility in the new government. Born in a Muslim family in Naughara village of Kaimur district of Bihar, Jama Khan’s education was also related to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. He studied till 12th class from Varanasi.

An interesting thing is that he himself said that his ancestors were Hindu Rajputs, who later converted to Islam. Even today, strong family ties remain between his relatives, both Hindu and Muslim.

Many parties, many elections…but won in 2020

Jama Khan’s political journey is full of struggles. In 2005, he contested elections from Chainpur for the first time from BSP but lost. In 2010, he contested elections from Congress, but lost again. In 2015, he again contested from BSP and lost by about 600 votes. Contested elections from BSP in 2020 and won a big victory by about 25 thousand votes.

This victory of 2020 was big, because he defeated the BJP candidate Brij Kishore Bind, who had been consistently strong on this seat. After this victory, he became the only MLA of BSP in Bihar Assembly.

Left BSP and went straight to Nitish Kumar’s cabinet.

After winning in 2020, Jama Khan suddenly took a big decision in January 2021. He left BSP and joined JDU. As soon as he joined JDU, Nitish Kumar expressed confidence in him and made him the Minority Welfare Minister.

Jama Khan openly supported JDU’s stand on many sensitive issues like Waqf Amendment Bill and praised the leadership style of Nitish Kumar. Due to this, the discussion about their closeness increased further.

New cabinet, new responsibility

The new government includes Samrat Chaudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Shravan Kumar, Mangal Pandey, Dr. Dilip Jaiswal, Ashok Chaudhary, Lacey Singh, Madan Sahni, Nitin Naveen, Ramkripal Yadav, Santosh Kumar Suman, Sunil Kumar, Mohd. Jama Khan, Sanjay Singh Tiger, Arun Shankar Prasad, Surendra Mehta, Narayan Prasad, Rama Nishad, Lakhendra Kumar Roshan, Shreyasi Singh, Dr. Pramod Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Deepak Prakash have taken oath as ministers.

After the landslide victory in the assembly elections (2025), preparations are on to form a new government in Bihar. The swearing in ceremony will take place at Gandhi Maidan. Meanwhile, ABP News has talked to Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha. He gave an open statement on who will be the Chief Minister in the new government and how many ministers will be made from his party.

‘Nitish Kumar will be the Chief Minister in the new government’

Upendra Kushwaha said, “Nitish Kumar is the Chief Minister. Nitish Kumar will remain the Chief Minister in the new government also. There was no confusion regarding the post of CM before and there is no confusion now. He said that the swearing in ceremony is on 20th November. How many ministers will be formed from our party… talks have been held with allies regarding who will be made. Everything was smooth in NDA and will remain so.”

In response to a question, the Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief said, “Vote theft was not an issue in the elections. The opposition’s allegation is frustration of defeat. Don’t question EVMs if you win. Not a single voter came before the media and talked about vote theft.”

Kushwaha claimed break in the grand alliance

During the conversation, Upendra Kushwaha was asked whether there could be a break in the Grand Alliance? He made a big claim on this. Said that there is no such thing as Grand Alliance anymore. What is left there now? Break it down and see how much is left. He said that any day people will move from here to there.

He also reacted to the ongoing dispute in Lalu family. It was said that Rohini has made many serious allegations, but Lalu is standing with Tejashwi. The future of the party has been told. On this, Upendra Kushwaha said, “The public is watching the condition of the Lalu family, but it is an internal matter. It is not right to comment, but what are the values they have here… what is their behavior with the people… it is visible.”

After the massive victory of NDA in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the process of formation of the new government has started. Today (Monday) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will hold a cabinet meeting and dissolve the cabinet and submit his resignation to the Governor. After this the claim to form the government will also be staked. Meanwhile, the discussion about how many ministers will be from which party has also started in full swing.

19 MLAs won from Chirag’s party

This time more new faces can be seen in Nitish’s cabinet. Because two new parties, Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Upendra Kushwaha’s party Rashtriya Lok Morcha have also won the MLA elections. In such a situation, discussions have started that three ministers of LJP Ram Vilas can join the Nitish cabinet. The question is, whose name can be in the race? 19 MLAs from Chirag’s party have won.

Raju Tiwari’s name is on the top in the list

According to the information received from a senior leader of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), three out of 19 MLAs can become ministers. The first name in this is Raju Tiwari. Raju Tiwari is the state president of the party. This time he has won from Govindganj assembly seat. The second name is of Sanjay Paswan who is the Principal General Secretary of the party. Won the election from Bakhri assembly seat. The third name is that of Sanjay Singh who won from Mahua Assembly.

Formula of one minister on six MLAs

A formula of one minister for six MLAs is being formed in Nitish cabinet. Accordingly, the quota of three ministers is being fixed in the account of LJP Ram Vilas. There is a quota of 36 ministers including the Chief Minister in Bihar government. Earlier, BJP had more ministers in Nitish cabinet, but this time Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas is in the government with good numbers.

However, there is no information yet about how many ministers from which party will take oath in the swearing-in ceremony. There is discussion that in the swearing in ceremony, someone from LJP Ram Vilas can also be sworn in as a minister. On the other hand, two Deputy CMs can be made from BJP.

Also read- Cabinet formula decided in Bihar, Nitish Kumar will be CM and BJP will get two Deputy Chief Ministers!
