The wait of lakhs of youth dreaming of police jobs in Bihar is finally over. Central Selection Board (Constable Recruitment) has released the final selection list for recruitment to 19,838 posts of constable in Bihar Police and Bihar Special Armed Police. As soon as the results came out, an atmosphere of happiness was seen in many houses. At some places sweets were distributed and at other places family members were seen taking pride in the success of their children.

This recruitment process was started under advertisement number 01/2025. Recruitment notification was issued on March 11, 2025, after which lakhs of youth applied. There is always great enthusiasm among the youth regarding government jobs in Bihar and this time too there was a similar atmosphere.

According to the data of the Recruitment Board, admit cards were issued to a total of 16 lakh 73 thousand 586 candidates for the written examination. The examination was held on different dates in July and August 2025. After the exam was over, the candidates’ eyes were fixed on the result. Finally, the result of the written examination was released on 26 September 2025, in which 99 thousand 690 candidates were declared successful.

When was PET held?

Candidates who passed the written examination were called for Physical Efficiency Test i.e. PET. This examination was conducted from 15 December 2025 to 11 March 2026 at Gardnibagh High School grounds, Patna. During this period, a total of 79 thousand 932 candidates contested. The biggest challenge was seen in the race examination, where 29 thousand 282 candidates were out. Whereas 50 thousand 650 candidates passed the race and crossed the next stage.

However, passing the race was not the final destination. After this, many candidates were left out in physical examination and document verification also. A total of 5 thousand 39 candidates were excluded from the selection process due to other reasons.

So many candidates were found eligible

After completion of all the stages, the board prepared the final merit list. On the basis of scrutiny and reservation rules, a total of 45 thousand 611 candidates were found eligible. These included 16 thousand 245 women, 29 thousand 349 men and 17 transgender candidates. But according to the vacant posts, 19 thousand 838 candidates were finally selected.

On the basis of reservation, maximum 7 thousand 935 posts have been kept for the unreserved category. 1 thousand 983 posts have been earmarked for the economically weaker section, 3 thousand 174 posts for the Scheduled Caste and 199 posts for the Scheduled Tribe. Apart from this, 3 thousand 571 posts have been reserved for extremely backward class, 2 thousand 381 posts for backward class and 595 posts for backward class women. The special thing is that 53 transgender candidates have also got place in the backward class category.

They also got a chance

Home guards were also given a chance in the recruitment process. According to the rules, there is a provision to fill 50 percent of the posts with trained home guards. Under this, 867 home guards were called for physical examination. Of these, 332 candidates were found successful, which includes 17 women and 315 men.
