The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has urged the Election Commission (EC) to give enough time for the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Andhra Pradesh. A delegation of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) told the Election Commission, “The purpose of SIR should be clearly defined and limited to improvement and inclusion in voter list. It should be clearly informed that this practice is not related to citizenship verification and this difference should not be seen in any area instructions.

TDP supported the ‘perception of inclusion’, saying that the voters who are already enrolled in the latest certified voter list should not have to show their eligibility again unless the specific and verification reasons are recorded.

Citing a decision of the Supreme Court, the TDP said that the inclusion of a person in the voter list in advance creates a perception of his validity and there should be a valid investigation before removing the name.
