Record breaking voting has taken place in the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections (2025). Bihar has created history. Last Thursday (November 06, 2025), the voting percentage in the first phase of voting was 64.66. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gave his reaction on this today (Friday). He further wrote in the post, “Voting in a democracy is not only our right but also our responsibility. The people of Bihar are requested to vote with the same enthusiasm in the second phase on the coming 11th, so that Bihar can progress further. Everyone should be respected, everyone should develop.”

Party claimed better results than 2010

JDU national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan said on the historic turnout of more than 64% in the first phase of voting in Bihar, “See, this is an unprecedented turnout and it has ensured that we will get better results than 2010. The successful duo of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have rejuvenated Bihar…”

Sanjay Jha said – Opposition’s hopes were dashed

JDU MP Sanjay Kumar Jha said, “Seeing the crushing defeat in this election, the frustrated opposition has started making various excuses and trying to create narratives. During the voting, the people of the opposition were making fabricated allegations throughout the day that the Election Commission was conducting slow voting. But in the evening, when the data came out that there was not slow voting in Bihar, but historic voting, then the opposition’s hopes were dashed.”

‘Lalu is afraid of Nitish… Nitish is afraid of Lalu’

PK said that in elections it is not only decided who will come to power, it is also decided who will be in the role of opposition, who will come on the road, this role is also decided by the public. The first phase of Bihar assembly elections became historic. On Thursday (November 6), 64.66 percent people voted in the voting held on 121 seats in 18 districts. If we talk about vote percentage, it was about eight and a half percent more than the last election, but this figure is going to increase the tension of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. If we look at the pattern till now, whenever the voting percentage has increased by more than five percent, there has been a change in power.

This time’s election is being considered amazing for Bihar, because this time the maximum voting has taken place. Talking about the year 2020, there was 56.1 percent voting in the first phase, but at that time voting was held for 71 seats in the first phase. However, this time voting took place on 121 seats.

Government changed due to increase in vote percentage

According to the Election Commission data, this time 64.66 percent voting took place in the first phase of Bihar elections. The important thing is that the voting percentage has a direct impact on the election results. If we look at the pattern, whenever voting has increased by more than 5 percent, the government has changed.

When Congress lost power

In 1962, there was 44.5 percent voting, but in 1967, there was 51.5 percent voting. In this way, after increasing the votes by 7 percent, the government was lost from the hands of Congress. For the first time, a non-Congress government was formed in Bihar. Similarly, in 1980, voting was 57.3 percent. Whereas in 1977 there was 50.5 percent voting. There was a gap of 6.8 percent between these elections, yet the government changed. Janata Party had to face defeat and Congress came back to power.

When and what percentage of voting took place in Bihar?

If we talk about 1951-52, there was 42.6 percent voting. After this, voting was 43.24 percent in 1957, 44.47 percent in 1962 and 51.51 percent in 1967. If we talk about 1969, there was 52.79 percent voting and in 1972, there was 52.79 percent voting. In this way, voting was 57.29 percent in 2020 elections, 56.91 percent in 2015 and 52.73 percent in 2010.

The first phase of voting for Bihar Assembly elections is going on from 7.00 am on Thursday (6 November). People are reaching the polling booths in 121 assembly seats of Bihar to vote for their favorite candidate. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the people of Bihar to elect their leader. This can be gauged from the voter turnout of the first two hours.

Actually, the voting percentage figures have come out two hours after the start of voting in Bihar, i.e. till 9.00 am. On an average, 13.13 percent voting took place on all 121 seats of Bihar. Begusarai has seen the highest turnout so far (14.60), while Lakhisarai assembly seat has seen the least turnout (7.00). Deputy CM Vijay Sinha is in the election fray from Lakhisarai.

Highest number of voters in Digha

Voting is taking place in 121 assembly seats of 18 districts in the first phase of Bihar assembly elections. The Election Commission has made all preparations to ensure peaceful and fair voting. In terms of constituencies, Digha assembly constituency has the highest number of voters registered at 4,57,657, while Barbigha has the least number of voters registered at 2,31,998.

Voting will be reduced by one hour on these seats

The Election Commission has reduced the voting time by one hour in six assembly seats. Voting will take place at these 2135 polling stations from 7 am to 5 pm. These include Simri Bakhtiyarpur (410 booths), Mahishi (361 booths), Tarapur (412 booths), Munger (404 booths), Jamalpur (492 booths) and Suryagarha (56 booths). This decision has been taken on the basis of sensitivity of these areas, distance from the block headquarters and suggestions of the local administration.

Voting time at 43,206 booths of remaining 115 seats will be from 7 am to 6 pm. A total of 3 crore 75 lakh 13 thousand 302 voters are exercising their franchise in the first phase. These include 1 crore 98 lakh 35 thousand 325 men, 1 crore 76 lakh 77 thousand 219 women and 758 third gender voters.

Popular candidates of Bihar Assembly Election Phase-1

A total of 45,341 booths have been made for voting, out of which 45,324 will be main booths and 17 auxiliary booths. In the first phase, the fate of many popular candidates will be captured in the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). These include Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha, folk singer Maithili Thakur, Bhojpuri film star Khesari Lal Yadav, Janashakti Janata Dal’s Tej Pratap Yadav, Janata Dal (United) state president Umesh Kushwaha and Bhola Yadav.
