According to the Meteorological Department, there is every possibility of dense fog in northern and north-eastern districts like West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria and Kishanganj. It is expected to have an adverse impact on road transport, rail and air services.

These districts were kept in alert or watch category

The Meteorological Department has placed Saran, Siwan, Gopalganj, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and Samastipur in ‘alert’ or ‘watch’ category, where the effect of fog along with cold can be seen. However, the situation is not considered very serious. According to meteorologists, due to weakening of westerly wind speed and increase in humidity in the atmosphere, fog can last for a long time.

No warning for these districts

At present, no warning has been issued in the districts of South and Central Bihar – Patna, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Begusarai, Sheikhpura, Munger, Bhagalpur, Banka and Jamui. These have been kept in the ‘Green Zone’.

Yellow alert issued here

‘Yellow alert’ has been implemented in Gaya, Nawada and surrounding areas, where the impact of cold can be felt relatively more. In view of the cold weather in Rohtas, Aurangabad, Kaimur and Bhojpur, people have been advised to remain alert.

Gaya recorded lowest temperature of 5.5 degree Celsius

Today the lowest minimum temperature of 5.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Gaya. In other districts the minimum temperature has been recorded between 6 to 12 degrees Celsius. In the last 24 hours, a drop in minimum temperature has been recorded in many areas. The Meteorological Department has clarified that cold and foggy conditions may persist in the coming days, hence people need to take necessary precautions.

The cold wave is continuing in Bihar for the last 8 days. Especially in many districts of South Bihar and western region including Patna, Jehanabad, Gaya, Nawada, it is experiencing severe cold. In view of this, today (December 26), Patna District Magistrate Thiagarajan SM has given instructions to close educational activities in all schools from Anganwadi, Play School to Class VIII till December 30. Along with this, instructions have been given to keep all educational institutions above class 8 open from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm.

In Bihar, the mercury has started falling in many districts since December 20, in view of which the Patna District Magistrate had directed to keep play schools, Anganwadi to eighth class closed from December 23 to December 26. The cold has not reduced yet and the temperature is not increasing. Keeping this in view, Patna DM has taken a big decision.

Kankani continues with drop in mercury

Let us tell you that the cold outbreak continues continuously. The day temperature of 14.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in the capital Patna on Friday (26 December), with a drop of 3.8 degrees. The sun did not shine throughout the day and Kankani continued with the westerly wind. Samastipur recorded the maximum temperature of 15.4 degrees Celsius with a drop of 4.9 degrees Celsius.

Mercury also dropped in Madhubani, Darbhanga and Supaul
