Winter is at its peak in entire North India including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. Dense fog in the morning and night is affecting road, rail and air traffic. The Indian Meteorological Department has warned that the situation will not become easy for the coming one week and the cold will continue.

According to the Meteorological Department, today (January 5, 2026), cold day like conditions may arise in some areas of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. Along with this, there is a possibility of cold wave in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh from January 5 to 8, in West Rajasthan from January 5 to 9 and in East Rajasthan from January 5 to 10. Jharkhand may also experience severe cold on 6th and 7th January.

Chances of rain and snowfall in hilly areas

IMD has informed that on January 5 and 6, there may be light rain or snowfall in the high altitude areas of North and Central Kashmir. There is a possibility of rain or snow in some parts of Uttarakhand on January 6. According to meteorologists, the minimum temperature in Central and Eastern India may drop by 2 to 4 degrees for the next three days.

Cold and bad air in Delhi-NCR

The weather will be mostly clear in Delhi and surrounding areas, but light fog may be seen in the morning. The minimum temperature in the capital has been recorded around 7 degrees Celsius. Also, the air quality still remains in the poor category. The effect of cold wave may be visible in some areas of Delhi on January 6.

Chilliness will increase in Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand

The cold is continuously increasing in Uttar Pradesh. Cities like Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Meerut and Noida will feel more cold due to north-westerly winds. At the same time, the effect of cold wave and dense fog will be seen in Jharkhand, due to which life and traffic can be affected.

Most cold in Kashmir valley

The temperature has fallen further in Jammu and Kashmir. The mercury in Gulmarg has reached minus 6.5 degrees, while in Pahalgam also the temperature remains around minus 5 degrees. The weather department has indicated that the cold will increase further in the coming days.

A word of caution though

The Meteorological Department and the administration have appealed to the people to be careful during cold and fog, avoid unnecessary travel and take special care of the elderly and children. The coming days are going to be very cold for North India.

The condition of air quality in Bihar is very worrying. The average AQI (air quality index) of the state has reached a very poor level. According to the air quality index released on Wednesday (29 October) morning, Patna’s AQI has been recorded at 129.

This figure shows a very bad situation. People may face problems due to poor AQI levels. This AQI is dangerous for those suffering from respiratory problems. At present, pollution in many parts of the city has made life difficult for people.

Keep an eye on AQI of these cities

Apart from the capital, the condition of Muzaffarpur, Narkatiaganj, Purnia, Bhagalpur is very bad. If we look at the city data, Araria’s AQI is 129, Aurangabad 101, Bihar Sharif 144.

On the other hand, 106 AQI has been recorded in Gaya and 145 in Muzaffarpur. At present, the level of pollution is taking a very worrying turn. Similarly, in many areas of the city, the level of air pollution is increasing due to vehicle smoke and burning of stubble by farmers.

The condition of these cities is very bad

There is a sickening situation in Begusarai of the state. The AQI here is 156. The situation in Hajipur industrial area also looks worse. The air pollution level of the area has reached 154. There is concern about diseases among the people nearby.

The situation in Narkatiaganj is also worrying. The level of air pollution is at 156. People are facing problems due to rising levels. The city air has become poisonous, due to which people are having difficulty in breathing.

This air is most dangerous for those people who have respiratory and heart diseases. This poisonous air has a direct effect on human lungs. At present, doctors have advised everyone to take a walk and exercise in the fresh air in the morning.

The weather of Bihar has once again seen a big change. On Wednesday, suddenly there was black clouds in the sky and torrential rains were recorded in many districts. The rains in many places including Patna, Arwal, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Sitamarhi and Madhubani shocked the people.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a similar season to continue for the next few days. According to the department, there is a possibility of heavy to heavy rains in the entire state till 7 October. During this time, there will be a drop in temperature, but due to the speed of the wind, people need to be cautious.

Heavy rains in these districts today

On the day of Dussehra i.e. today, alert of heavy rain has been issued in many districts. Purnia, Katihar, Kishanganj and Araria will see the most impact. At the same time, there is a possibility of torrential rains in a total of 19 districts including Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Vaishali, Jamui and Banka. Apart from this, light to moderate rain may occur in Patna, Jehanabad, Kaimur and Gaya districts. The Meteorological Department also told that where there will be no rain, there will be cloudy and the effect of humidity can bother people.

The entire weather of October will be changed

Meteorologists say that this time the month of October can prove to be more rain than normal. Most of the districts will be likely to rain in the initial fortnight. The minimum temperature will be around 25 ° C on an average, while the maximum temperature can only be from 30 to 35 ° C. Parts of southwest Bihar will see normal temperature, but the temperature in the rest of the state is expected to be lower than normal.

People will have to take care

In view of the strong wind and thunderclap, the Meteorological Department has advised people to remain alert. It has been instructed to stay away from open grounds, trees and electric poles. Especially farmers and people working outside should be cautious. Rain can also increase the risk of water logging and traffic hindrance in many places.

Apart from this, Patna and Jehanabad can also cloud for some time.

Temperature decreased to some extent after rain

On the day of the day, there was an increase in temperature and humid heat in the day, but in the evening many districts received heavy rains. Red alert was also issued due to excess rainfall in the capital Patna, Gaya, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Jamui, Munger, Vaishali, Aurangabad, Arwal, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Khagaria, Siwan, Saran and Bhojpur. After the rain, the temperature declined and the humidity decreased to some extent.

The monsoon in Bihar has become fully active before farewell. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in many districts of North and South Bihar for the next four days.

According to the Meteorological Department, till September 18, there will be an active monsoon in all 19 districts of North Bihar. Eight of these districts- Kishanganj, Araria, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Vaishali, Saran, Samastipur and Khagaria have been expected to have very heavy rainfall.

Possibility of heavy rains in North Bihar

The Meteorological Department said that there is a cyclonic circulation in the upper air over the Northeast Bangladesh and Central Assam. This average is active at an altitude of about 3 to 5 kilometers above sea level. Due to these seasonal conditions, rain will be faster in North Bihar. The department has warned that excessive rainfall will increase the water level of rivers rapidly and flood -like situation can arise in many areas. People living on the banks of rivers have been advised to be cautious and careful.

Monsoon will also be active in South Bihar

According to the department, light to moderately active rainfall will also be seen in South Bihar. There is alert of heavy rain in 14 districts including the capital Patna in Monday’s weather forecast. There is a possibility of very heavy rains in Vaishali, Saran, Samastipur and Khagaria. At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy rains as well as thunderstorms and strong winds in Patna, Begusarai, Munger, Lakhisarai, Bhojpur, Muzaffarpur, Sheikhpura, Kishanganj, Araria and Supaul districts.

Last day rainfall and temperature fall

On Sunday too, torrential rains were recorded in many districts of North Bihar. Kishanganj received the highest 299.6 mm rainfall, which was placed in the category of very heavy rainfall. Saharsa (146.4 mm), Araria (144.2 mm) and Madhepura (110 mm) also received very heavy rainfall. Apart from this, rain from 65 to 95 mm was recorded in Begusarai, Supaul, Sheikhpura, Khagaria and Madhubani.

The temperature has also been seen to fall due to continuous rains. The Meteorological Department estimates that for the next five days, mercury will go down by three to four degrees across the state. On Sunday, the capital Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 31.1 degrees Celsius, which was 3.5 degrees lower than Saturday. At the same time, the maximum temperature in Rajgir of Nalanda was 33.9 degrees. Mercury was recorded between 28 and 30 degrees in many districts of north-eastern Bihar.

The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to be cautious and follow the guidelines issued by the administration, as water logging and flood situation in the low -lying areas may become more serious due to heavy rains.
