Vladimir Putin India Visit Live Updates: Russian President Vladimir Putin will reach New Delhi today (November 4) on a two-day state visit. The main objective of Putin’s visit is to further strengthen India-Russia strategic and economic partnership, especially at a time when India-US relations are going through an increasingly bad phase.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a private dinner in his honor this evening, while the most important day will be Friday, when the summit between the two countries will be held. In this dialogue, special attention is likely to be given to increasing defense cooperation, keeping bilateral trade safe from external pressures and possible partnership in small ‘modular reactors’. Western countries will keep a special eye on this meeting.

This important visit is taking place at a time when America has imposed heavy duty of up to 50 percent on Indian goods. This also includes the 25 percent additional duty imposed on buying crude oil from Russia, due to which India-US relations have reached their lowest level in two decades. Russian President Putin is expected to reach New Delhi at around 4.30 pm today. After this journey of about 28 hours, he will depart from India at around 9.30 pm on Friday night.

Tariff and trade war stance
Shoo Faihong said, “We should support the same and well -organized multi -polar world and beneficial global economic system for all.
Peace and global responsibility
Talking about China-India relations and world situation, Shoo Faihong said that the world has entered a new disturbance and change, where humanity has to choose from peace and war, dialogue and conflict, cooperation and competition.

India eu fta: In addition to 25 percent tariff on India from the US, an additional tariff of 25 percent has been imposed as a panalty due to the purchase of crude oil from Russia. Due to this, the total rates have been 50 percent. The high tariff imposed on India has tightened the competition for Indian exporters in the American market. That is, it is becoming difficult for India to remain in front of Vietnam or Bangladesh and Pakistan exporters.

India-EU Free Trade Agreement

Meanwhile, efforts are being intensified between India and European Union for ambitious free trade agreement and two important meetings have been scheduled next month to remove all pending differences. According to officials, a delegation of European officials is coming to New Delhi this week. Where they can discuss issues with differences such as market access, customs duty on agricultural products and especially alcohol and dairy.

This step is being taken at a time when India is under pressure from American high tariff. And the White House is constantly putting pressure on the European Union to impose additional customs on India due to buying oil from Russia.

New Delhi’s eye on the new market

Actually, both sides are trying to do the conversation by the end of this year. Because due to the influence of Trump Tariff, New Delhi is looking for a new market. India’s European Union is a large trading partner and bilateral trade between the two countries has touched a figure of about 135 billion in 2023-24.

It is believed that the European Union will present its new vision on 17 September regarding India. And it can be formally announced at the conference to be held early next month.

India-Rus Trade Deal: There is a tussle between India and America about the trade deal at this time. US President Donald Trump has imposed 50 percent tariff on India. Meanwhile, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has given a big statement regarding the trade deal. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has clearly stated that India’s business talks are only on fairness and concrete basis, not under the pressure of any timeforce.

He made it clear that India will not finalize any deal in a hurry about the talks on the ongoing bilateral trade agreement (BTA). Union Minister Piyush Goyal said, ‘We never tie trade agreements within a deadline. Our goal is to make agreements good and beneficial for both countries. India is always ready for a deal based on equality and fairness.

‘Conversation with America is going on’

He informed that active talks are going on between India and America regarding bilateral trade agreement. Since March, five rounds of meetings have been held. However, the sixth round of talks on August 25 were postponed after the US government imposed a 50% fee on Indian products from August 27. The date of the next meeting has not been decided so far.

‘India is leading in the field of renewable energy’

He said at the 20th Global Sustainability Summit held on Tuesday (September 2) that India is leading the world in the field of renewable energy today. He informed that India is providing clean energy round the clock at the rate of only ₹ 4.60 to ₹ 5 per unit (about 5 cents), which is the cheapest in the world.

He further said, ‘Before 2014, electricity was very expensive and less in many parts of the country. At that time, people in some states had to buy electricity from Rs 12 to 13 per unit. But after the formation of the national grid, the situation changed and now in areas like South India, electricity is getting electricity at a cheaper rate almost before.

‘5 times expansion in solar energy’

He said that during the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the renewable energy sector has made record progress. The initial target of solar energy was laid down 20 GW, which was increased to 100 GW and was also completed on time. He said that transparent auction and competition reduced solar energy rates from ₹ 7–8 per unit to ₹ 2 per unit.

India and America are two major economies of the world and are also important business partners of each other. There is a trade of billions of dollars every year between the two countries. If for some reason the trade between India and America stops completely, then it is a big question that who will suffer the most. If trade between India and America is completely closed, then both countries will be clearly affected, but in this situation India will suffer more loss. Let’s know in detail about this.

Who will suffer more loss

India’s economy is much smaller than the US and its dependence on global trade is more. America is the largest export market in India, a large part of areas like pharmaceuticals, IT services, textiles, gems-jewelery. If the business suddenly stops, then these industries will be hit directly, due to this, not only the income of these companies will fall, but the jobs of millions of people will also be in danger. Foreign exchange reserves, new investment and startup sectors will also have a serious negative effect.

What do data say

First of all, look at the figures. In the year 2023-24, the total bilateral trade between India and the US has been around $ 118 billion. In this, India exported about $ 77 billion to the US, while imported from the US about $ 41 billion. That is, India has a trade surplus of about $ 36 billion with America. If the trade stops then India will suffer loss, because the American market is the biggest customer for Indian IT companies, pharma and textile industry. Millions of jobs will be directly affected. About 60 percent of the IT sector earnings come from the US itself.

America will cost generic medicines expensive

In contrast to this, if we talk about America, then the options of Indian market and supply may be fast available for there, especially electronics, clothes and some medicines. Yes, but America can also find generic medicines and some other items expensive and many companies will have to find a new supplier. But the big and diverse economy of America and many of its business partners can get rid of this loss quickly.

What will be the condition of America

Overall, the loss of the US market for India will have a more serious impact on its economy and industries, while the impact on America will be relatively limited. For this reason, experts believe that in the event of such a business captive, India will get more shock in both economic and social terms.

India usa trade deal: The long -running bilateral trade talks between India and the US have now reached a decisive turn. While the US wants India to give concession in import duty on dairy and agricultural products. At the same time, India has refused to do so. All this is happening at a time when both countries are trying to finalize an interim trade agreement. This agreement can later be the basis of a comprehensive bilateral trade agreement (BTA). The dialogue has been going on in Washington since the end of June and is now the sixth day, but no concrete consent has been announced yet.

India told the dairy sector ‘red line’
According to the top sources of the Government of India, India has dismissed the demand for giving discount in tariffs on dairy products by the US. More than 8 crore people get employment in India from this region, most of which are small farmers. A senior official said bluntly, “There is no question of giving any concession on dairy. This is our red line.” The government believes that exemption in sensitive areas like agriculture and dairy can be disastrous for India’s rural economy.

Rajesh Aggarwal’s journey increased, Jaishankar also gathered in efforts
Rajesh Aggarwal, Special Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, who is leading the Indian delegation, has extended his journey in Washington one more day with the aim of removing the deadlock. The talks started from 26 June and now have entered the sixth day on Tuesday. The talks are likely to continue on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S.K. Jaishankar is also in the US and is about to meet his American counterpart Marco Rubio during a diplomatic meeting. This meeting is also considered important towards breaking the deadlock in business talks.

India’s priorities- tariff concession in labor-dominated areas
There is a demand from India that the US should give exemption in import duty on labor-dominated areas such as textiles, costumes, gems and leather, plastic, chemicals, shrimp, oilseeds, grapes and bananas. According to government sources, “The concession on these products is not a threat to the domestic interests of America, so the possibility of opposition is also very low.” India believes that exemption in these areas will provide relief to its exporters and domestic employment will also be encouraged. The purpose of this interim agreement is to eliminate heavy duty (up to 26%) on Indian exports. The US wants to fulfill this agreement before the deadline of July 9.

Tariff Deadline and American Pressure
If the dialogue fails, the US can again apply tariffs up to 26%. According to PTI, an official said, “If the business talks fail, the 26 percent fee will be again impact.” The mutual fees imposed on Indian products on April 2 were suspended for 90 days. But the original tariff of 10% is still applicable. India wants permanent exemption from these additional charges so that exports do not be interrupted.

America’s demands and India’s challenge
America is demanding concession on dairy and agricultural products from India. These include industrial items, electric vehicles, wine, petrochemical products, apples, dry fruits (tree nuts), and gene-reflected crops. But it is difficult for India to accept all this, because most farmers of the country are dependent on traditional and marginal farming and any kind of external competition will directly affect them.

A target of $ 500 billion by 2030
India and the US want to finalize the first phase of their proposed bilateral trade agreement (BTA) by September-October this year. Its goal is to reach bilateral trade by 2030 to $ 500 billion. Currently, this trade is around $ 191 billion.

However, if there is no compromise on disputed topics like agriculture and dairy, then this goal can be difficult. India says that it will not accept any foreign pressure at the cost of its farmers and rural economy.

India-Africa: India has given a befitting reply to China’s efforts to capture the rare mineral wealth of Africa. According to the Center for Social Economic Progress (CSEP) report, India has increased its investment rapidly in African countries. Research states that India is strengthening its relations with African countries to combat China’s aggressive geopolitical strategy to effectively use rare mineral resources. The main objective of ‘Mission Africa’ of India is to reach out to important minerals like copper, lithium, nickel and cobalt.

According to the report, by 2030, the demand for important minerals in India is likely to increase four times. Currently, India has about 5.9 million tonnes of lithium ore available, which can meet domestic needs for some time. However, it will take time to fully use these resources, which can challenge India’s self -sufficient campaign.

There are two options in front of India

There are two main options in front of India. First, mining of mineral wealth available in the country should be promoted rapidly, so that self -reliance can increase. Second, relations with countries should be strengthened where these rare minerals are abundant, such as Australia, Africa and Latin America.

According to the report, India is increasing rapid cooperation with these countries so that there is no problem of supply chains in future. The rapidly increasing its presence in African countries has increased China’s concerns. China also wants to establish its domination in Africa, but due to its rigorous debt policy, the African countries have become alert. India is getting direct benefit of this situation, because the African countries are giving priority to cooperation with India instead of China.

This was said in NCMM report

The National Important Mineral Mission (NCMM) report announced in January 2025 has emphasized on ensuring supply of important minerals from abroad. In the report, the Government of India recommends establishing a close relationship with these countries. This includes providing subsidy for the deployment of the Indian Geological Survey for Mapping Surveys, the development of mining and withdrawal related to mining and withdrawal and identifying potential new opportunities.

According to the report, India has rapidly strengthened its relations with African countries. New Delhi has now joined the top five countries investing in African countries. These five countries have invested around $ 75 billion in the African region, of which India also has significant participation. Apart from this, India is also getting diplomatic and commercial benefit from the presence of about 3 million Indian origin in Africa.

Trade reached $ 100 billion

In the financial year 2022-23, bilateral trade between India and African countries reached $ 100 billion. India provides the facility of duty free tariff to 27 African countries, which also gives India the benefit of duty free tariffs in these countries. Apart from this, India has opened 16 new missions in African countries, due to which the total number of Indian missions there has increased to 46.

India’s top diplomats are constantly traveling to African countries to further strengthen political relations. The report states that the biggest feature of India’s participation is that it adopts a comprehensive view for the development of African countries. According to CSEP’s research report, India has finalized 206 projects in 43 African countries. Under these projects, India has provided a concessional loan of more than $ 12.3 billion to African countries. Apart from this, India has also given a grant of $ 700 million for capacity building in African countries since 1949.

India will benefit

The positive result of these strategic efforts of India has been that now it has started getting rare mineral wealth from African countries. 30% of the important minerals discovered globally have been found in African countries. India has entered into cooperation agreements in both non-renovated and renewable energy sectors, strengthening energy partnership with these countries.

According to the 2023 report by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the total value of mining and mineral trade between India and Africa has reached $ 43 billion since 2001. Recently, the Government of India has announced that it is planning to acquire important mineral resources in African countries like Congo, Tanzania and Mozambic. Apart from this, India has also secured 9,000 square kilometers of greenfield land for exploration of copper and cobalt in Zambia. This is considered to be an important diplomatic success of India, and more successful results can be seen in the coming times.
