More than 80 percent of buildings have been damaged in major areas like Sagiing, Mandalay and Magway due to this terrible disaster.

UNDP regional representative Titon Mitra told Mandle that the health system of the country has been completely broken, treatment is not possible due to the large number of patients in hospitals, he also said that there is a huge shortage of medicines and health materials.

According to the United Nations’ Coordination Office (OchiHA) report, more than 5 lakh people have been deprived of basic health services across the country. Titon Mitra said that markets have been completely disrupted in areas like Sagiing and Magway, people have no means of income left and now inflation is indicating rapid growth.

He said, “Amidst the active civil war in the country, it is important that relief materials also reach areas which are under resistance control and not only to the areas of military administration.”

In the time of this crisis, India has started ‘Operation Brahma’ under the ‘neighbor I’ and ‘Act East’ policy and has joined the first countries to provide humanitarian aid to Myanmar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep condolences on this horrific disaster and assured India’s full assistance by directly interaction with the Prime Minister of Myanmar and Senior General Min Aung Halrang, the Chairman of the State Administration Council.

On 5 August 2024 last year, Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh and came to India, since then the relations between the two countries have not been normal. Local media in Bangladesh quoted Chief Advisor Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad as saying that the two leaders met each other during the official dinner.

Bangladesh will be handed over to head

The interim government is keen to hold bilateral talks between the two leaders for the first time during the BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok. The chairmanship of BIMSTEC will be officially handed over to Bangladesh on Friday.

Khalilur Rahman, a high representative of the Chief Advisor on Rohingya and priority issues, said on Wednesday that BIMSTEC member leaders will discuss their future works with Younis and there is a scope for a meeting between Yunus and PM Modi. Addressing a press conference in Bangladesh before the BIMSTEC summit in Thailand, Rahman said, “We have requested India to organize this dialogue (between leaders of both countries) … There is sufficient possibility of organizing this meeting.”

PM Modi wrote a letter to Yunus

Last week, Prime Minister Modi wrote a letter to Younis on the occasion of National Day of Bangladesh, in which he highlighted the importance of mutual sensitivity, describing Bangladesh Mukti Sangram as ‘common history’. Prime Minister Modi wrote, “We are inspired by our shared aspirations for peace, stability and prosperity and are committed to pursue this partnership based on mutual sensitivity to each other’s interests and concerns.”

Relationships after Sheikh Hasina’s coup

New Delhi is concerned about the deteriorating law and order situation in Bangladesh under the current interim government. In August 2024, the Unis rule has been strongly criticized for acquitting extremist elements since the collapse of the Awami League government led by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and to blame many Islamists.

Foreign Ministry (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on several occasions, “We support a stable, peaceful, inclusive and progressive Bangladesh in which all issues are solved by democratic methods and by organizing inclusive and participation elections. We are concerned about the situation of deteriorating law and order, which have been decorated for serious crimes.”

Due to the frequent attacks on members of minorities, especially Hindu and Ahmedia communities in Bangladesh, the Ministry of External Affairs has repeatedly highlighted this serious issue and thwarted the interim government’s investigation which is only showing off.

He said that there is a danger of extreme weather incidents and natural disasters in the BIMSTEC region. Its relevance can be seen in the devastating earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand today. Conditions between our disaster management officers through collaboration in disaster management and HADR (Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief) exercises have been a priority area for India ‘.

This journey to Thailand will also be focused on bilateral talks
Let us know that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also focus on bilateral talks on 3-4 April 2025, in which special attention will be paid to strengthening the economic and defense relations of Indo-Thiland.

India-Bangladesh in Bimstec: India has given a huge blow to Bangladesh led by Mohammed Younus. The Hindustan Times quoted sources in its report as saying that India refused to hold a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Advisor of the Interim Government Mohammad Yunus at the BIMSTEC Summit to be held in Bangkok.

In fact, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus are scheduled to attend the BIMSTEC summit to be held on April 2-4 next month. This will be the first time that PM Modi and Yunus will be in front of each other in a multilateral program. But during this summit, there will be no bilateral meeting of the top leaders of both countries.

Bangladesh had requested India to meet

Bangladesh had requested to hold a meeting between the top leaders of India-Bangladesh at the BIMSTEC summit. This was confirmed by Tauhid Hussain, advisor for foreign affairs in the interim government of Bangladesh.

Tauhid Hussain, advisor to foreign affairs in the interim government of Bangladesh, gave a statement to news agency ANI on Thursday (March 20). He had said, “We have made a diplomatic contact with India to hold a diplomatic meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus at the BIMSTEC summit to be held in Thailand’s capital Bangkok.”

This meeting is not right according to the current situation of India-Bangladesh

Sources in the Hindustan Times said, “The situation between India and Bangladesh is not correct. In such a situation, a bilateral meeting between the top leaders of the two countries is not correct. However, in this multilateral program, the possibility of meeting or greeting cannot be ruled out if each other is face to face, but no bilateral meeting is expected.”
