Ahmedabad air india plane crash: The officials have now started handing over the bodies and remains of the dead to their families regarding the Air India aircraft accident on Thursday (June 12, 2025) in Ahmedabad. The victim families have demanded to hand over the entire remains of the dead bodies.

A total of 270 bodies were brought to the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad after the plane crash. Out of these 270 bodies, 241 were flight passengers and cabin crew to London. The rest of the people died when the aircraft crashed in the hostel of BJ Medical College.

Family members are asking for complete dead body of the dead
According to the report of the Times of India, the victim families have requested the authorities to hand over the entire remains of their family members, not to hand over their organs. On Saturday, a person was seen in front of the authorities pleading to hand over all the remains of his family members for the funeral, but it was told that it was impossible.

An official said that in such a situation, it is becoming difficult to explain to the families of the deceased. The families of the victims of the accident are flocking outside the mortuary of the civil hospital, as the officials are doing DNA tests. According to BJ Medical College Additional Medical Superintendent Rajneesh Patel, a total of 32 bodies have been identified through the DNA sampling process and 12 bodies have been handed over to the families. He said that eight of these bodies have been handed over to families, as DNA testing was not required.

However, as the process is moving forward, problems are also coming in it. A family will be sampled again after receiving 2 heads inside a body bag. The report quoted a senior officer of the civil hospital as saying that the DNA sampling process will have to be repeated for this, as these organs are of two victims and should not be in the same bag.

Air India Plane Crash: The Ministry of Civil Aviation held a press conference for the first time on Saturday for the horrific aircraft accident in Ahmedabad on 12 June. The ministry said that Air India flight AI-171 had reached a height of only 650 feet after flying from Ahmedabad Airport, after which the aircraft started losing height rapidly.

Aircraft fell after a minute of takeoff, pilot made ‘me de’ call
Civil Aviation Secretary Sameer Kumar Sinha said that the aircraft had achieved only 650 feet height after flying. Soon after, the aircraft started losing the height and the pilot sent a ‘de’ call to ATC at 1:39 pm. Within a minute, the aircraft fell on the medical hostel complex in Meghaninagar.

There was no technical problem before the accident
Sameer Sinha also told that before the accident, the aircraft had completed the journey to Paris-Delhi-Ahmedabad without any technical trouble. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu mourned the accident and said that he too had lost his father in a road accident, so he can understand the grief of the victims’ families.

Committee constituted for investigation, report will be submitted within 3 months
The Central Government has constituted a high -level committee to investigate the Air India accident, which will submit its report within three months. This committee headed by the Home Secretary will include officers above the joint secretary level of the Central and State Governments. The committee will investigate the cause of the accident, review the existing SOPs and guidelines, and will give extensive suggestions to deal with such incidents in future.

Dreamliner investigation started, 8 aircraft has been investigated
On the instructions of DGCA, Air India’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft are being examined. There are a total of 34 Dreamliner in India, out of which 8 investigations have been completed. There were 242 people in the accident aircraft, out of which 241 died and only one person could survive. More than 20 people also died in the medical hostel premises, where the aircraft crashed.
