BJP leader Agnimitra Paul, who took oath as a minister after the formation of the new BJP government in West Bengal, has made a big attack on Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress. He said that Trinamool Congress leaders considered Mamata Banerjee like God, but the results of the recent assembly elections have made it clear that she is neither God nor above the law.

Agnimitra Paul said while talking to NDTV that Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee talked a lot during the elections, but the people of West Bengal have given their verdict. He said that Mamata Banerjee should understand that she is not above the Constitution and law of India. Paul also said that many TMC MLAs and MPs tried to please Mamata Banerjee by calling her “Maa Sarada”, whereas people consider Maa Sarada as God. According to him, Mamata Banerjee never tried to stop such things. He said that now the people of West Bengal have made everything clear and they do not need to say anything to Mamata Banerjee.

Agnimitra’s advice to Mamata Banerjee

BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari took oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal on Saturday (9 May 2026) in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and many senior BJP leaders. Apart from Agnimitra Paul, Dilip Ghosh, Nisith Pramanik, Kshudiram Tudu and Ashok Kirtaniya also took oath as ministers. When Agnimitra Paul was asked whether BJP should have chosen a woman Chief Minister, she said that Subhendu Adhikari’s long political experience makes her the most suitable for the post. He said that Suvendu Adhikari has been active in politics for the last 30 years and has given strong leadership to the party inside and outside the Assembly. According to him, there was no better option at this time.

What are the priorities of Subhendu government in Bengal?

Talking about the priorities of the new government, Agnimitra Paul said that first of all it is necessary to improve the law and order. He alleged that the police system was used politically in the previous government. He said that the second biggest priority is to develop basic facilities in the state. In many places people are not getting essential facilities like water, houses, roads, drainage and toilets. Apart from this, he said that the third biggest need is employment. According to him, a large number of youth of West Bengal have gone to other states in search of work and the new government will bring them back and provide them employment opportunities in the state.

BJP won 207 seats

In the West Bengal Assembly elections, BJP has achieved a big victory by winning 207 seats, while Trinamool Congress got 80 seats. Shubhendu Adhikari had led the BJP’s campaign in this election and strongly raised issues like infiltration and Hindutva.
