World Braille Day is celebrated every year on 4 January. This day is an opportunity to pay tribute to Louis Braille, the inventor of Braille script, who provided the medium of reading and writing by touch for the blind. Many films in Bollywood have shown the lives of blind characters in depth. To bring these roles alive, many actors learned Braille script and understood the world of the blind. Such characters not only won the hearts of the audience but also highlighted the struggle and strength of the disabled.

Braille script is made up of raised dots, which are read by touch. It helps the blind to get education independently. Even in today’s high-tech times, the importance of Braille remains intact. Naseeruddin Shah
In the film ‘Sparsh’ released in 1980, Naseeruddin Shah played the role of a blind school principal Anirudh. In the film, he was seen romancing with Shabana Azmi. Anirudh is a self-respecting and strong person, who turns his weakness into strength. ‘Sparsh’ tells the story of a widow and a disabled person. Naseeruddin’s subtle acting won him the National Award. This film shows the feelings of the blind in a delicate manner.

In 2005, Rani Mukherjee played the role of Michelle, a deaf and blind girl in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Black’. Amitabh Bachchan was his teacher. Rani’s performance was fantastic. Kajal Aggarwal played the role of blind Jenny in ‘Do Lafzon Ki Kahani’ released in 2016. Randeep Hooda was in the lead role with him in the film. Kajal learned Braille script and also did special workshops to prepare for the role. He had made special efforts to understand the life of a blind girl.

Posting on Instagram, Babil Khan wrote- With great courage, passion and mutual respect, both Sai Rajesh sir and I entered this journey to create magic together. But unfortunately and never thought of things, things did not happen as everyone had planned.
