US Iran War: America has imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz after peace talks with Tehran failed. The US said that during the 24 hours of blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, no ship could cross the American blockade and 6 merchant ships returned to the Iranian port.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) shared a post on social media platform X on Tuesday (April 14, 2026). In the post, CentCom shared information about the number of US forces, warships and aircraft deployed in the US blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM said, ‘More than 10,000 US Navy, Marine and Air Force personnel, more than a dozen warships and dozens of aircraft are carrying out the mission of blockade of ships entering and leaving Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz.’ “During the first 24 hours, no ships could pass the US blockade and six merchant ships followed the instructions of US forces and turned back to an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman,” CENTCOM said.

Blockade being implemented impartially on ships of all countries: Centcom

US Central Command further said, ‘This blockade is being implemented impartially on ships of all countries entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports located in the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman.’ CENTCOM stressed this, saying, ‘US forces are also cooperating in maintaining freedom of movement in the Strait of Hormuz for ships traveling to and from non-Iranian ports.’

America deployed forces in the blockade

To successfully carry out the blockade mission in the Strait of Hormuz, America has deployed more than 10 thousand military personnel, more than 100 fighter and surveillance aircraft along with more than a dozen warships, which include aircraft carriers, amphibious assault ships, amphibious transport dock ships, dock landing ships, guided-missile destroyers, littoral combat ships, land It includes I&C based fighter aircraft, unmanned aircraft (UAV), refueling aircraft along with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft.
