Famous Bollywood director Aditya Dhar’s film ‘Dhurandhar’ earned a lot at the box office, but along with this the film was also embroiled in a legal dispute. A director Santosh Kumar had accused the director of ‘Dhurandhar’ of stealing the script of the film. Also, in a press conference, Santosh spoke ill of Aditya Dhar.

After this Aditya Dhar had filed a defamation claim against Santosh Kumar. Now the decision of this case has come.

What was the dispute?

The controversy started when Santosh Kumar claimed that Aditya Dhar’s film ‘Dhurandhar’ is a copy of his 2023 registered script ‘D-Saheb’. Santosh Kumar repeatedly accused Aditya Dhar of script theft in press conferences and media. Hurt by these statements, Aditya Dhar approached the Bombay High Court and filed a defamation case against Santosh Kumar.

Apology received in court

On Tuesday, the hearing of this case took place before the bench of Justice Arif Doctor. During the hearing, Santosh Kumar’s lawyer apologized unconditionally for the statements given by him. The lawyer appearing on behalf of Aditya Dhar accepted this apology and said that now he does not want to pursue the claim for damages. After this the court settled this defamation case.

Claim of script theft still intact

Even though the defamation case is over, the court has given a big relief to Santosh Kumar. The judge clarified that Santosh Kumar still has the right to initiate separate legal action regarding his ownership rights on the script of the film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026)’. According to the court order, the settlement of defamation will not come in the way of the claim of script theft.

Talking about the film ‘Dhurandhar’, this film was released on 5 December last year. It had earned Rs 1000 crore in India and more than Rs 1300 crore worldwide. After this, its sequel ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, released on March 19, 2026, broke all records. This film starring stars like Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun and Arjun Rampal has so far collected Rs 1788 crore worldwide.

Amidst the crisis arising due to the war between Iran and Israel, the Bombay High Court issued a notice to the Central Government on the petition regarding increasing the supply of LPG cylinders. On Thursday (March 12), the High Court issued notices to the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and a private company.

The petitioners claimed that despite instructions from the Centre, Nagpur’s ‘Confidence Petroleum India Limited’ has failed to increase the supply of domestic LPG cylinders. In its instructions, the Central Government had asked to give priority to domestic distribution.

After this, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas had issued orders to give priority to LPG production and supply for domestic consumers.

It has been said in the petition that no action was taken on the repeated information given to the company to stop LPG export and increase the supply in the domestic market. The petitioners claim that ‘Confidence Petroleum India Limited’ informed them that as part of its export strategy it has to meet the demands of the international market, hence it cannot give priority to the domestic market.

Nagpur Bench Justice Anil S. Kilor and Justice Raj D Vacode, while hearing the petition on Thursday, issued notices to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and Confidence Petroleum India Limited.

What is the matter?
Let us tell you that Vidnayan Mane, a friend of cricketer Smriti Mandhana, had filed a complaint against Palash at Sangli Police Station. In which he had said that on December 5, 2023, he had met Palash and given him the opportunity to invest in ‘Nazariya’ as a producer. For this he gave a total of Rs 40 lakh to Palash. But neither this project was completed nor Vidnayan’s money was returned. Apart from this complaint, Vidnayan also talked about what happened in Smriti and Palash’s marriage and revealed that Palash cheated on Smriti.

After Vidnayan’s complaint and statements, Palash Muchhal had also filed a defamation case against him in his defense. Palash had told about this by sharing the story on Instagram. He had written that his lawyer has sent a legal notice to Vidnayan Mane against his false allegations, presenting a defamation claim of Rs 10 crore.

Whereas the punishment for rape of a minor is rigorous imprisonment of at least 20 years, which can be extended to life imprisonment or death penalty, but a recent decision of the Bombay High Court has given a surprising verdict.

Bombay HC has reduced the life sentence of a youth convicted of raping a 5-year-old girl in 2016 to 12 years. The court, in its order dated February 2, upheld the conviction and announced reduction in the sentence. This decision was given by the bench of Justice Sarang Kotwal and Justice Sandesh Patil on the appeal of the accused.

On what basis did the court reduce the punishment?

The High Court said that at the time of the crime the accused was 20 years old and had no criminal history. He has been in jail continuously since December 2016 and was not released even during the Covid-19 pandemic. These circumstances were considered important while deciding the punishment.

According to the court, his reformative efforts in jail were also taken into consideration. Certificates produced on record revealed that he participated in educational activities in jail, including essay competitions on Mahatma Gandhi and study programs on his thoughts. According to PTI, the bench said that these corrective aspects cannot be ignored.

Possibilities of improvement should also be given importance – Court

The bench said that the crime is serious, but the possibilities of reform should also be given importance. The court said in its order that a sentence of 12 years would serve the ends of justice. It was also clarified that the period spent by the accused in jail so far will be adjusted in the reduced sentence.

According to the prosecution, on December 9, 2016, the 5-year-old victim had gone to a neighbor’s house to fetch water, where the accused sexually assaulted her. The scared girl immediately narrated the incident to her mother, after which the family lodged a police complaint. During the trial, the victim at the age of eight testified in the court.

The High Court found that the testimony of the minor was credible. The court said that the girl described the incident clearly and without any teaching, due to which her words were believed. On this basis the conviction was upheld, while partial relief was given in the sentence.
