The application process for the 72nd Combined Preliminary Competitive Examination 2026 conducted by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has now reached the final stage. Interested candidates can apply online by visiting the official website till 31 May 2026. Through this recruitment drive, appointments will be made to a total of 1189 posts in various departments of Bihar Government.

Total number of posts increased to 1189

A total of 1189 vacant posts will be recruited under this recruitment drive. In the revised notification issued by the Commission, the number of Lower Registrar/Joint Lower Registrar posts under the Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department has been increased from 3 to 6. Separate posts have been reserved for different categories like General, EWS, Backward Class and Women Category.

Who can apply?
To apply for BPSC 72nd Combined Competitive Examination 2026, the candidate must have passed graduation from a recognized university. Candidates from any stream of Art, Science and Commerce can apply. For some special posts, degree in related subjects has been sought, hence candidates must read the official notification before applying.

What will be the age limit?

The minimum age limit for BPSC recruitment has been fixed at 20 to 22 years as per the post. The maximum age for male candidates of general category has been kept at 37 years. Whereas women, backward class and extremely backward class candidates will get relaxation up to a maximum of 40 years. The maximum age limit for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe category candidates has been fixed at 42 years.

How will the selection process be?
The BPSC recruitment process will be completed in several phases. First of all, preliminary examination will be conducted which will be in the form of screening test. Successful candidates will appear in the main examination. Candidates who pass the main examination will be called for interview. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in main examination and interview.
