How To Make Crispy Parathas With Leftover Dal: Often pulses are left over after dinner and the next day we don’t know what to do with it. Many people reheat the leftover dal and eat it, while some people throw it away. But if you want, you can prepare delicious and crispy parathas for morning breakfast from this leftover dal. These are not only fun to eat, but are also full of nutrition. Dal Paratha is very popular in states like Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat. Its specialty is that it can be made from any type of pulses. Whether you have leftover arhar dal, moong dal, chana dal or fried dal, delicious parathas can be prepared from all of them.

What will it take?

To make Dal Paratha, you will need one cup wheat flour, half cup leftover lentils, some grated ginger, finely chopped coriander, cumin, celery, red chilli powder, turmeric, garam masala, dry mango powder and salt as per taste. Ghee or oil can be used to bake parathas.

Prepare the dough like this

First of all, put flour and remaining dal in a big vessel. Now add all the spices, celery, cumin, ginger and green coriander in it. If the dal is already spicy then the quantity of spices can be reduced a little. After mixing everything well, add little water as per requirement and knead a soft dough. Apply some oil on the dough and keep it covered for 10 to 15 minutes. This will set the dough well and the parathas will be better.

Make parathas crispy

Now make balls of dough and roll them. If you want, you can fold the paratha by applying some ghee and dry flour in the middle to make it layered. This makes parathas more crunchy. Heat the pan on medium flame and cook the paratha from both the sides. When light golden spots start appearing, apply ghee or oil on top. After roasting well from both the sides, the paratha will be crispy from outside and soft from inside.

With whom to eat?

Dal Paratha can be served with curd, raita, green chutney or pickle. It is also a great option for children’s tiffin, office lunch or a hearty morning breakfast. If there is leftover dal from the night, instead of throwing it away, you can make crispy parathas with this easy recipe and win the hearts of the entire family.
